THAI LAIR FOR GANG

By Phil Nettleton

THE masterminds behind the record-breaking £53million Securitas heist have fled to Thailand, police believe.

Detectives reckon they are holed up in the sleazy coastal resort of Pattaya - or on the popular holiday island of Koh Samui.

The areas are popular with fugitive crooks

because it is easy to disappear among the ex-pat community - and local cops are easy to bribe.

An underworld source told The People: "At least two of the main players in the robbery have gone to Thailand.

"It's the perfect place to hide because it is easy to blend in among the other Brits there and the police can be bought off."

Detectives from Kent may now fly to Thailand to investigate.

The Securitas depot in Tonbridge was raided on February 22.

So far, cops have recovered more than £20million and charged several people.
