Russian Go-Go Bar and Thai Pub raided by Pattaya authorities

russia-22.jpg
PATTAYA:--In the early hours of Sunday Pattaya Police and Banglamung District Licensing Officials conducted raids on two late night entertainment venues on Walking Street and off the South Pattaya Road.

The first venue to be targeted was the Moulin Rouge Bar on Walking Street which has, for many years, employed Eastern European Hostesses to work in the bar. Inside officers detained 50 customers and 11 Russian employees. The Russians had passports and valid visas but were not in possession of Thai Work Permits and were therefore arrested and are expected to be deported in due course.

Police then moved to the MC2 Pub off the South Pattaya Road which has been shut down on numerous occasions but has re-opened despite warnings that the venue was operating illegally.

Perhaps if they get on their knees the police will forgive them and let it slide.

It has been open knowledge for years, even a decade or more that certain establishments employ Russian hostesses, where one establishment has them "erotically" dancing in full view of anyone walking up and down Walking St, it is also well known how easy it is to get a work permit for such work.whistling.gif

Why the sudden change in policy, have the local BiB been to "Specsavers"?

I suspect that it's pressure from some local government body/politician forcing them to close something so they appear that they're doing something....

Or a random crackdown for the same purpose - to show that they're still police.

Either way, I think an establishment in the business for a few years would know better than to skip tea money payments.

Why on earth do they need to import farang prostitutes? Do Russians actually travel from Russia to Thailand for a Russian prostitute, would it be easier and cheaper to just go to a brothel in Russia?

It appears that the Russians don't know how to keep it discreet and should take a few tips from the Thais. The BIB didn't notice all the Thai prostitutes operating in Walking Street. Maybe this is just part of the operation to crack down on all Russian businesses that are taking jobs away from thais.

If you ever visited Russia ,you'd know why the girlz come here !

you have to understand that many foreigners are not interested in "local" services ..... many prefers Caucasian women but enjoy Thailand as holiday destination..

If Thais could speak Russian I am sure they wouldnt need Russians in their business here . Unfortunately , the Russians going to Pattaya for holidays dont speak for most of them any English. And you never thought that Thais were the best customers for farang hookers ?

For Thai men? They like the white stuff. unsure.png.pagespeed.ce.E7Vo3qsmeC.png

Fair enough, how many Thai's could afford a Farang prostitute or do they charge Thai rates? I have never used them so I don't know the going rates.

mabe they just want to be rid of the mafia elements

Probably true and just part of the big operation they announced a couple of weeks ago to target Russian businesses and those using Thai nominees, who are taking jobs away from Thai's

I hope this is the thin edge of the wedge and "Chooka" is correct.

The Thais have got to realise soon how much they are losing out on from other nationalities due to the masssive Soviet influx. How many Norwegians, Danes, Dutch, Germans, Brits and Americans go to Soviet owned Go Go bars and Discos...

Discos ??? Did they not die out 25 years ago ?

Soviets eat Soviet food in Soviet restaraunts. They travel in Soviet owned coaches with Soviet Tour guides. They fly on Soviet airlines and they dance and drink in Soviet bars and clubs....If any of them actually buy a Condo ??? Its from a Soviet Sales person.....where do you see the ordinary Thai person gaining from this other than Baht Bus drivers dragging their sweaty ( they seem to avoid using de-odorant ) bodies around to these venues.

I saw a Baht Bus sporting an advert looking for Soviet Women to apply for jobs as "Escorts". Where do you get the Visa for that ?

Every Thai I know when they hear mention of the word "Russian" follows it up with Mafia... I am sure lots of them are not but sh*t sticks when you get tarred with the same brush....

Ewwww...not a sight i want before my coffee. Who would even consider paying for that shock1.gif !

I mean, surely there can't be a market for them with farangs? Unless they hang around the Japanese, Arabic, or hi-so Thai areas, how can they make money?

But good on the BIB anyway!

Tea money must be paid.

Do you sit by the computer ready to be the first to type in this highly "original" & pointless comment whenever a topic involving the police is posted?

Why? It's true.

Its funny isn't it that so many expats have this aversion to the truth. biggrin.png

Well they could legislate to make paid whoring a 'protected' line of work the same as tourist guides and security personnel.

As an aside, neither the Thais or the Caucasian 'hoe's' in the photograph would attract much business and any 'johns' would wake up thinking "man I must have been pi$$ed last night"

Don't think it is a big loss if Thailand wide all Russian A-GO-GOs will be closed. It's like carrying coals to Newcastle... Never felt more hassled and harrased for money than in those places. Compared to the delicate and mostly beautiful Thai girls, these huge giants seemed like monsters to me. Permanently babbling something about "do you have present for me?" and nagging about lady drinks which in those places cost you and arm and a leg. Only good thing that can be said about those venues is that the music there is much better and the women (can't call these fully matured heavyweights girls) can dance - what was a kind of nice change to the standard "Bangkok Shuffle" performed by Thai girls. At the end of the day, I would applaude officials if they can make the Russian rip off places disappear.

Sad, Pattaya is not what it used to be, but then, it never was.

When I moved here 26 years ago Pattaya was heaven on earth. In the last 10 years it's all about lying, cheating and stealing. I moved out of town to a nice place on the beach. No noise, people and scams. I am the only farang in the Thai market when I go there.
