I'm dogsitting for a friend and I need a decent extendable lead. Is there a good pet shop in town that stocks these, or do any of the big supermarkets have them? I've looked in Tesco and Friendship and they don't have them. Does anybody know where I can buy one?

I purchased a couple of them in various pet shops around Chiang Mai. It's hit or miss--some stock them, and some don't.

They are actually not very good for dogs. Especially in your situation where you are not familiar with the dog. Many dog associations recommend not using them.

The evening market on Theparsit road (Fri,Sat& Sun nights) there's a row of Pet supply stalls they usually have a selection of them.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. I was taking a beer in a bar last night and there was a German guy with a small dog (similar to this one) who had the kind of lead I wanted. I asked him where he got it and he has a spare that he will lend me for as long as I need it. Since I'm only dogsitting that will suit me fine.
