The dentists favoured by many foreigners living here is the dental department at Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital, further details at:

www.pattayahospital.com

They have severel well qualified dental specialists and the head man is Dr Thepasist, American trained.

There charges are standardised and reasonable.

For example I recently had complicated root canal and a Crown....5 visits etc x-rays and so on....about 20,000 baht but they will give u a quote on application.

Better to use a hospital rather then some of these one man clinics.

You can always email them for further details.

There are many dentists in this town but take care as some of them are of dubious efficiency and my view and experience is that Bangkok-Pattaya is among the best even though maybe not the cheapist.

Could do with a couple of dentists over "ear

Hundreds queue for NHS dentists :D

The lack of dentists in the area has reached crisis point

Hundreds of people spent the morning queuing in the street in Scarborough to register for NHS dental treatment.

More than 3,000 people have applied to join the scheme and more than 300 spent hours queuing to register in person.

Scarborough's shortage of NHS dentists means some people are having to travel to Leeds or Middlesbrough for a simple check-up or filling. :o

I also support patt/bkk hospital. I have had several treatments there including, root canal and crown, extraction and fillings. Pattaya International has also got a good dentestry dept which some of my friends go to and is as good as patt/bkk.

Good luck!

Totally agreed; Bangkok Pattaya dental dept; simply the best, super efficient & compared to western prices very cheap. As previously said, avoid the scores of one man practices scattered across town. Have heard many horror stories! Same goes for doctors clinics, much better to go to Bkk Pattaya. I've been using it since it was built & have nothing but praise for the service I have received.

I had extensive root canal work and complicated crown work done at Bangkok Pattaya hospital and have nothing but praise for the dentists. The price was a fraction of the cost in the USA but maybe a bit expensive for Thailand. A woman dentist performed four root canals over the four visits totalling about six hours of work. A male dentist, a graduate of Cornell, perfomed the crown which involved cementing a post into the remaining portion of the tooth to support the crown. This took three visits and was around three hours work. The total time was about nine hours.

Both dentists gave me their undivided attention...there was no pain...The total cost was around 14,000 baht. Most of the cost went to the crown. I probably could have found a cheaper place but I was in a bit of pain when I went in and was so pleased with my initial treatment I just stayed with them.

The year before my dentist discovered an infection in a root of this tooth the week before I retired and moved to Thailand. He said if I didn't take care of it soon it would become something much worse. I put it out of my mind and was reminded of it over a year later in the early evening with sudden and unrelenting pain. The dental clinic at the hospital is open in the evenings. :o:D

Well just back from Pattaya International, say another Doc there as Dr Aree was busy, needed a root canal, day 1 of treatment cost 3500baht to remove 3 nerve roots and pack ready for treatment 2, two hours in the chair.

very good friendly caring staff who took their time and was better service than i have had anywhere.

The Xray is an old style and doesnt have the fancy computer to show you but their work is A+. :D

Now for those having a root canal get some good pain killers for when the anesthetic wears off, i got Ibuprofen and Tramadol and they are just keeping on top of it. :D

More to come after sundays treatment, lets hope it doesnt take 4 injections before they block the pain this time. :o

I'm a fan of Dr. Aree at PIH. Terrific English and carefully discusses various dental options. Saw her this week. She's 34 and married although absolutely stunning :o.

Yes i did see her there and she is stunning, was so sad i couldnt get and appt with her.

the doc who treated me was gentle and spoke very good english and as tall as me too 6'2" for a thai is tall

Well after treatment 2 Dr Yongyuth has been really good, he himself a scuba diver wants to take the extra time to ensure no air space is left in the tooth as this causes filling and teeth to explode almost when diving, which is how this tooth decayed in the first place after a amalgam filling shattered on a dive.

so its an extra treatment and cleaning before the filling but thats better than going thru all this again later on.

So PIH and dr Yongyuth gets my thumbs up!

3500 for first treatment

2000 for second so far

Gonna bring this one back from the archives , I normally go to PIH for dental work but found out today since moving the operation to the 9th floor they have also nearly doubled the prices.

So where is the next best option (price and quality wise).

I've been using "Dental for You" directly opposite Tuk-com on the south Pattaya Rd.

In the last 6 years i've been living here they have also treated my sister & brother in law and many friends, from check up & cleans, fillings, crowns and currently treating my brother in law with 2 implants.

All excellent work and very competitive prices with state of the art equipment.

I would'nt go anywhere else.

I had an excellent treatment in January 2004 in the Pattaya International Hospital located in Soi 4 by Dr. Aree, a female dentist.

Nico

That place looked dark and dank, dark paint on the walls, when i went 5 years ago,

Let them do a clean, but never went back.

im only talking about the dental side.

BPH for me. worth the extra dosh.

DON'T VISA ANY DENTIST IN PATTAYA!!! THAT INCLUDES BANGKOK PATTAYA HOSPITAL!!!

Do yourself a big favour and go to Bangkok. Any of these will do:

Bangkok International Dental Center (BIDC)

Bumrungrad Hospital - Dental Center

Dental Hospital

Thantakit Dental Clinic

Silom Dental Building

I have had 48-hours of toothache induced by hot, cold and sweet stuff so called BPH for an appointment. Despite being on their books and getting my teeth done there since 2005, the earliest slot is next Tuesday!!!

Can anyone recommend a decent 'emergency' dentist so that I can get this sorted before the weekend?

Thanks!

Dr Somran Buddachart at the Pattaya international (soi 4) worked great for me when I need some quick treatment

Wow. You know every dentist in Pattaya and they are all bad?

Thanks for the good work.

Ah shut up not a single decent dentist with a good reputation would locate himself in a <deleted> Pattaya hospital if he could het a job in a Bangkok one. Best medical care is in Bangkok and everyone knows it.

Insulting me is rude and I don't appreciate it. You have made a ridiculous blanket statement, with nothing to back it up. Not every good dentist in Thailand is in Bangkok--many people don't want to live in the Big Mango for obvious reasons. Your statement is obviously false.

Yeah sure, my fillings fell out after a few months. Dentist at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. The next dentist was even worse. Been going to Bangkok ever since and have been warned. Sure you might find great dentists in Chiang Mai as well but really not in Pattaya. The Hospital care here is also bad.

Sorry for insulting you but we are talking about someones teeth here and Pattaya isn't a good place to be for teeth.

Not to mention the old equipment they have in Pattaya! Smells like fire... No money here for the good stuff and those well known and big clinics in Bangkok do have great and modern equipment.

I also go to Dr Aree at Pattaya International. Very competent and pleasant too. She likes to sing while she's working, sort of relaxes her while she's working. Total visit cost for exam, cleaning, polishing is about 1100 baht. Not the cheapest, but absolutely first rate work. I expect she'd also not be able to accommodate any emergency from an unknown patient. But she has fit me in immediately when I've had a filling come out late in the day.
