German man jumps to his death at Central Pattaya Hotel.

Police Captain Sureeya from Pattaya Police Station was called to the Sunshine Hotel in Soi 8, Central Pattaya, after hotel staff reported the possible suicide of one of it’s German residents. At the scene, Police inspected the body of Mr. Stephan Palm age 39 from Germany. His body was lying on the ground floor and evidence of a fall from a high floor was clear because of the extent of the trauma suffered by the victim.

He was identified by Hotel Staff who took Police to his room, number 2045 on the fourth floor. Nothing was found inside the room which arouses suspicion and hotel staff and cleaners claimed that they never saw the man take anyone back to his room and the room had been paid for without a problem. One cleaner did see the man on the 11th Floor on Wednesday Afternoon, moments before his apparent suicide but claimed he appeared in a relaxed mood.

The motive behind the apparent suicide is now not known and Police are confident that a third party was not involved. The German Embassy in Bangkok have been informed and they will conduct their own independent investigation into the case and will inform the dead mans family back in Germany.

hmmm, wouldn't be the same guy from the other news story would it ? The guy who fled the police check-point carrying two bags, leaving behind his expensive car and (more expensive ?) Thai woman ?

Could be a valid point :

Excuse my ignorance, but his room number was something like 2045?.

Should that not be the second floor?.

He jumped from the 4th as I read it.

Ho-hum...... :o

....twentieth (20th) actually...but does the Sunshine Hotel have 20+ floors?....I don't think so!

I believe that it has 12 floors :D

The hotel staff took the cops to the chap's room on the 4th floor.

But it could have been the 2nd, 12th or 20th.

In order to promulgate a conspiracy theory could someone pop round please and see which floor room 2045 is actually on?.

Pattaya does seem to have a disproportionate amount of jumpers. In BKK they seem to prefer the noose option........very tragic for all concerned. :o

It always used to confuse me how a person could tie their hands behind their back then place a poly bag over their head then tye wrap it sealed : Consistent verdict was always 'suicide'.

Weird....... :D

To put your comment into perspective....there have only been 3 or 4 cases of deaths in Pattaya over the last three years where the deceased has been found to have a plastic bag over his head. So it is about one per year.
