What kind of motorbike was he driving since he could be thrown 50 meters from impact..

Maybe only the bike hit the boat he hopped off 50 meters before.

Any kind of bike. It's a complex calculation with lots of variables, but a throw of 50m after colliding with a stationary object implies a speed in the region of 65 klm/h at impact. Not really that fast.

How long before one of our fruitloop TV naysayers manages to pin this on the Thai bloke for parking his boat on the beach? blink.png

Who needs TV naysayers? Looks like the police will pin it on the bike rider - ad try to recover damages to the boat. They boat could well have been illegally parked...but I doubt that will matter much to the police.

LOL, you for real? IT appears to be a speeding drunkard who drove into a boat on the beach and you suggest there is some conspiracy? Are you aware that drivers who cause property damage are legally liable for that damage?

Maybe the poor boy was being chased by angry kathoeys, and in an attempt to protect his virtue, traversed the beach and crashed into the boat that shouldn't have been on the beach, because as we all know, boats should not be parked near the water.

I am loath to say that in Thai law he may have a leg to stand on, but when he gets to see the damage he's caused he'll be hopping mad.

There's no (harm) in that. now he's out on a limb.

How does one ride a bike at high speed on the beach into a boat ?

Was it a sand drag bike with big paddle tyres on the the back ?

We only have the word of a dubious unnamed witness that the man "seemed drunk". Could this be a case where the the jetski mafia strikes again deliberately parking their boats in spots where foreigners, particularly Indians and Arabs, will crash into them only to be subject to extortionate demands for "damage" such as 80,000 Baht or a leg.

From The Op

The witness said that the body of the foreign man had been thrown 50 metres away from the crash. The accident also caused the man to lose a part of his left leg.

Police said they would contact the owner of the speedboat and proceed with the legal investigation.

Well if this is the standard Thai measurement for a meter and anything like my wife's, then 50m will in fact be 10m. You have to laugh at the police. A young foreign guy has been seriously injured and they say "we will contact the owners of the speedboat", nothing about contacting the family of the injured. Then again I guess people with speedboats will have money according to the thinking of the BiB.

From the link posted above concerning the reporting of the news item elsewhere it says

It was reported that his foot was entirely ripped off from his leg. Doctors at Banglamung Hospital are trying to somehow connect his foot with leg again.

Sounds like the doctors were looking on Google for some ideas as to what to do rolleyes.gif
