He was often absent from duty and might have been doing drugs yet nothing much was done apart from a transfer. A television report quoted a colleague as saying he was good man but did have bad temper. As usual the BIB do nothing until it's too late.

Thai BIBs are... Thai, first and foremost.

TSK, TSK, TSK!!! Farang cannot understand Thainess.

From Thai manual of procedures

Maintenance

1- wait for something to break or go wrong.

2- repair or replace ONLY after breaks down, if it is strictly necessary.

LAW and ORDER

1- Do not interfere with the flow of usual customs, no matter how egregious they are.

2- Act only when a catastrophic situation happens.

3- In case of Rule number 2, always ask for guidance from superiors.

4- Failures should always be blamed on something or somebody.

5- Law and order officers are first and foremost chroniclers of events.

DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS

1- TRANSGRESSORS WILL ALWAYS BE REMOVED FROM THEIR JOBS AND ASSIGNED TO INACTIVE POSTS WITH FULL PAY.

THE END rolleyes.gif

that covers every eventuality

So this is an indication that the police have M16 rifles, which fire 5.56 mm bullets. The same type of bullet used by the military. So could it be that the deaths in the temple across the street from the National Police Headquarters could have been killed by someone else besides the military. The court found the military guilty because they used M16's, now we know the police also have M16's. ph34r.png alt=ph34r.png>

Which prompts the question: Were M16s used by the "men in black" to kill bystanders in the Bangkok riot?

With a muzzle velocity about three times that of a your average pistol that could be a lot of very deadly ricochets flying around.

Why isn't he in jail....or even handcuffs.....as he is obviously not in control of his actions?

So, why did nobody return fire? He shot up a police station, full of presumably armed and trained police personnel, and nobody shot back? It's not a 7/11, it's a police station, for chrissakes! Try this in any other country's police station...

...then again, after rational thought came back, what did I expect: The BIB are bullies, and bullies are cowards. That's all there is to it.

Well, I guess that since police positions are bought rather than gained by merit, a few bad apples would be bound to slip in here and there. Also shows the lack of a correlation between actions and consequences that the Thai police seem to display on a regular basis. They seem to actually believe they can do anything they want. Of course this is not good for you if you are in their way.....

Would be nice to see more "thai bib" action in youtube.

Now it seems to be reserved for the american "LEO's".

Doing drugs, eh?

Transfer him to the anti narcotics division.

Wai's and smiles all round.

Case closed.

Next. coffee1.gif

That is probably where they transferred him from!!!

Seriously though policing must me improving in Thailand when such a "minor incident" not only gets notice but actually leads to an arrest!

Well I hope he is given a blod & urine test, sounds like he might have been on yabba, so he should do time if positive, just as anyone else would need to do.bah.gif

You'd think with the amount of drugs flying around in Thailand that mandatory drug testing for all police & military would be the norm.

POLICE
Officer who fired M16 may have drug problem

Patinya Iamtarn
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Police have pressed an additional charge of drug abuse against a police lieutenant colonel who opened fire in a Bangkok police station on Wednesday.

Burin Lalitathada is now in detention and has been dismissed from the service.

"Evidence has suggested that his behaviour had something to do with methamphetamine consumption," Metropolitan Police Division 5 chief Maj Gen Suebsak Phansura said Friday.

He said Burin was also found to have previously sought drug rehabilitation from the Thanyarak Institute.

"There have also been reports of him firing shots from his gun elsewhere as well,' Suebsak said.

Burin was arrested in a border province on Thursday for allegedly firing several rounds from an M16 machine gun inside Khlong Tan Police Station in Bangkok. At the time of the shooting, Burin was serving as an inspector at another station in Bangkok.

This was in the hands of a police officer, the ones who are trusted in many countries to have guns. It has nothing to do with how many guns the populace has.

I do agree that Thailand is a dangerous place but it's because of the people and how they react to things.

Division commander Pol Maj-General Rassadakorn Yingyong said Burin - who was wanted on charges of illegal possession of a war weapon and ammunition, and firing in public without sound reason - is now temporarily suspended from civil service

I'm glad it's only temporary. Anything more would simply be unfair. <deleted>.

Perhaps the reason there is no discipline in such cases is related to knowing where all the bodies are buried. Things don't flow to the top without passing intermediaries.

He need an "attitude adjustment." His mates need to wipe that grin off his face - permanently.

Precisely. There has never been a gun responsible for anything. It is an inanimate object. The propaganda of gun control is based on a theory that, when applied to drunk driving, suggests that you could reduce drunk driving deaths by making it harder for sober drivers to get cars.
