Continued deletion of off-topic posts and replies to them. Seems everything that can be said has already been said, so why don't we just leave this topic alone for the time being and wait for the OP to post how he solved his problem if and when he does solve it.

Because the answers are so strhtforward, I thought you would know by now.

1. Change your name and get a new passport.

2. Get your record 'expunged'

Actually the rverse might be better - then if the name change is discovered, then it leads nowhere.

Expungement is often available after a sufficient period of time and if the crime was not that serious - i.e. low level - less than 2 years in the can, but varies considerably betwen local governments; NSW NT, NZ, CA, NY, etc.

A good friend was caught up in fellony assault with a deadly weapon for squirting his ex with a water pistol - It looked real, but water is water. He served 8 months - out early for good behavior and a year later had his record expunged, so only the Feds can find it, if they ask the right questions.

Unless the legislation has recently been updated, a few examples.

In New South Wales, the relevant legislation is the Criminal Records Act 1991. Under the Act, an offender's criminal record may become spent if they do not re-offend for a period of 10 years. Offences resulting in a prison term of more than six months will not become spent. Additionally, for certain employment occupations (e.g. education or child services), a "full disclosure" check is required, and spent convictions are still visible.

In N.Z. criminal records are not expunged if you have been sentenced to a custodial sentence

Instead of trying to beat the system, find a new pattaya. I've heard Angeles city Philippines is good, and parts of Vietnam think it's Vung Tau. I doubt anyone here that has worked a way with a blacklist on their name would share the secret. Besides your really asking us to help you break the law.

Well its not against the the law asking if i can transit in bkk airport

yes have been to angeles city and it is a bit of a shithole compaired to patts

and all i have a gf in patts and hundreds of friends

and all my shit, car etc.

Correction.... "HAD"...

Not trying to piss you off, just being realistic...

I've never been to Angeles City but I can hardly imagine a bigger pile of steaming sh*t than Pattaya.

Within the next 2 weeks i will be flying to Cambodia and transiting in Singapore.

I have explained the situation to the airline that will be carrying me, and they have no problem with me flying with them, however they did suggest i contact the Cambodian embassy in my country to see if i am free to travel there, however i will not be doing this as i don't see how they would have any information on the unfortunate chain of events that took place around 7 months ago.

Not really looking forward to arriving in Singapore for my few hours transit, but hope all's well, and not too worried about arriving in Cambodia.

I will update this when i have safely made it it to Cambodia or when back in New Zealand if all turns to custard.

Off topic again, can anyone advise me on how to deal with currency in Cambodia..? (advise from a Kiwi who has traveled there a bit would be great )

Do I A. Just use the atm's ( I understand they give US dollars )

B. Bring NZ dollars with me and change at the street booths.

C. Buy US dollars in New Zealand ( normally i find this a massive ripoff compared to anywhere in south east Asia with any currency )

Thanks.... will keep you posted.

in the area near the traffic circle near olympic market are some of the best places with the best rates in the world to change money (about the green arrow at https://maps.google.com/maps?q=11.562347,104.912318&hl=en&num=1&t=m&z=19.) havent done nz dollars but cant see why not. at worst there is the banks eg. http://www.canadiabank.com/exchange_rate.aspx

out of nz dollars you are not going to beat this in nz. but just get some in nz to be sure. .

another good area for money changers is the river side of phsar chas market https://plus.google.com/116781655950672015451/about?hl=en

cambodia atms spit out usd. but the fees and charges are ridiculous. t/cheques at ftbank http://www.ftbbank.com/ for 1% commission only take usd t/c. also cambo asia bank are ok see .http://www.cambo-life.com/en/ppbanks.htm

Bring some $US, just in case ATM does not work, otherwise i would be using ATM's(always had)

You can take $NZ and change, but they will give you riel, so you will walk around with a bundle of useless money, but if you will want to change from $NZ to $US, they will first change to riel and then to $US, ie you get much less.

Well not a <deleted> lot really.....just make one small immigration mistake and she's all over

Blacklisting is a whole process that is not done by an individual immigration officer. It goes all the way to the top and there is an appeal process.

A small immirgation mistake will not get you blacklisted.

I have removed a post asking the OP why he got blacklisted. He has already made it clear that he does not wish to discuss it in this topic, and one reply gave the link to another topic started by the OP where the reason for his blacklisting was discussed.

Update

Around 12 days ago, i was in the changi transit hall for around 15 hours, then flew to Phnom Penh international with no problems at all.

This was with the same airline i flew with when i tried to enter Perth who then carried me back to BKK and detained (via singapore and detained) then back to New Zealand, not detained, (via singapore, not detained).

Having a great time in Phnom Penh now and off to Sihanoukville tomorrow.

Anyone own a motorsailer in this area...? cheesy.gif

Yes i think i will do the latter and transit in KL or somewhere like that and when in manila it should be easy to arrange flights to cambo, nam, laos etc

Might start considering a new hub for the region. I would suggest KL, as others have. But maybe the Malaysians will like you as much as they did in Singapore, maybe your name appears on lists throughout the region. Otherwise as a hub for Air Asia, MAL, etc..

Help! I am in a similar situation, was refused entry at the australian border and sent back to Nz! Because if previous criminal convictions around 9 years ago.

I have applied to the thai embassy In nz sending them copies of my convictions and all required paperwork and have been granted a non b visa to work in thailand ☺️ super happy!

Can anyone tell me if they think I will hit any snags at the border although I have the visa etc?

Just nervous because of previous travel experience really hoping this is ok ☺️

Elenas, as the experience recounted by Pattaya2000 indicates, it is impossible to predict what will happen on your arrival in Thailand with your non-B visa. Hopefully, Pattaya2000 will read your post and tell us how he fared, but if you look at his profile you will see that he was last active on 2014-03-01, which refers to the last time he logged in on Thaivisa.
