“Funny air” seizure in Pattaya entertainment zone by Region 2 Police

funny-1.jpg
PATTAYA:--Region 2 Police attached to the Child and Women Protection Unit seized a cylinder of Nitrous Oxide from a stand situated in front of a Walking Street Discotheque in the early hours of Wednesday which is sold under the name “Funny Air”

A balloon full of the gas is available for sale and can be inhaled, offering customers an immediate feeling of drunkenness without consuming alcohol. The “Funny Air” is available at five separate locations on Walking Street for 120 Baht per Balloon and has been available since earlier this year.

Despite regular patrols along Walking Street by local Police Divisions who would have seen the stands which are situated on the pavement, the Child and Women Protection Unit have now decided the “Funny Air” stands are breaking the law.

Two assistants aged 17 and 19 were detained and the “Funny Air” stand situated outside of Lucifer’s Discotheque was removed on Wednesday and taken to Banglamung Police Station.

Two Thai teenagers arrested for selling 'funny air'

BANGKOK, August 22, 2013 (AFP) - Two Thai teenagers have discovered laughter isn't always the best medicine after they were arrested for selling balloons containing "funny air" -- or laughing gas -- to tourists.

The pair, aged 17 and 19, were charged Wednesday with trafficking in controlled substances, punishable by a maximum five-year jail term, after allegedly selling balloons containing nitrous oxide in the tourist resort of Pattaya.

The gas, known locally as funny air but more commonly referred to as laughing gas, induces euphoria and laughter when inhaled.

It has several legitimate uses, including numbing pain during medical procedures such as dentistry.

Nitrous oxide is legally available in many countries, including the United Kingdom, but is controlled in Thailand.
"They were charged under medical laws... that ban selling or importing nitrous oxide," Police Lieutenant Colonel Passkorn Paikit told AFP, adding the balloons are commonly sold in the tourist hot spots of Ko Samui and Ko Pha Ngan.

"(The balloons) sell for 120 baht ($3.5) each and its effect can last for five to ten minutes," he said.

For those brits who have been to Blackpool fun park in years past, do you recall?

Maybe change the Uniform to brown and the helmet to the CHiP's motorcycle helmet, change it to accept 10B coins and put it in Walking St.

Total crap, in-hail laughing gas and all it does it make your voice go to a higher pitch so you sound like Donald Duck or in Pattaya Donald Dick!

Ah, you're confusing it with helium...

But I do think mixing it with significant amounts of alcohol already in the blood, esp. there on Walking Street, is a recipe for something unpleasant.

The the funny air equipment will now be installed inside police stations nation wide, to help the over serious and constantly overbearing police to "just lighten up a bit" clap2.gif

A friend of mine and I obtained a 4ft tank of nitrous oxide from a hospital and attached a 7 ft long hose to it and used to pass it around for hits back in the late '60s, never really overdid it though because we read up on the effects of too much inhaled at one time, is very bad for your heart. It was considered empty for oral surgery at 30lbs pressure. Had many funny times with it .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The article is talking about Nitrous Oxide, otherwise known as Laughing Gas. You are thinking about Helium. Two totally different products.
