eezergood
Storm in a teacup regarding any reactions to his comments! The bigger picture is in focus here, for once Yes...except this repercussion.?? Interesting news on PW...apparently Mr Cunningham was called to mediate a jetski problem with an Aussie at Karon Beach and received an SMS from an official, one..Siriporn Tantiphanyatep, Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs basically telling him..; That he should thank the governor instead of just making complaints all the times. Also that its not wise to always say bad things about Phuket whilst he is still living and doing his business in Phuket The message was sent by Siriporn Tantiphanyatep, Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Phuket Office. Could lead to a major flare up IMO.. I actually meant from his consular colleagues in Bangkok! BUT this is a clear show of the mentality that plagues Phuket! She should be stripped of office immediatly! Of course it will never happen, some BS excuse about lost in translation of bringing Thailand into disripute will surface! Could lead to a major flare up IMO.. He has been officially WARNED to shut his mouth and ignore the business dealings of high profile government employees. When tourists arrive in Thailand they become the property of Thailand to be used as Thailand sees fit. The people operating these scams are the government officials and nothing will ever be done. The only way to get rid of criminals and clean up the scam is to get rid of the government officials who are feeding of tourists. They are like a drug addict and need more and more each time just to satisfy their lust for money.

Not sure if her brusque SMS to him makes it ''official'' ..I would think it would have to come through the right channels to qualify as such... Seems like more of a personal attack to me... and for which she should be asked to account for.
chooka
Educate and warn people not to use them... before they go to thailand Think you'll find it very difficult attempting to 'educate' the morons who rent these loud, noxious, environmentally unfriendly, ILLEGAL (allegedly) machines anyway. They're here on holiday Godammit! And They WILL do whatever they please, whomsoever they piss off/which soever marine life they disturb. Selfishness and imbecility are not the sole preserve of the Thais. The blame solely lays at the feet of the United States and Clayton Jacobsen. cekipa
It is plain clear that thai authorities DO NOT want to solve this issue. The problem must be tackled by foreign Ministries. From now on, all foreigners must be warned during their flight to phuket "TOURISTS ARE WARNED OF ONGOING JET-SKI SCAMS WITH COMPLICITY OF THAI POLICE. NO ASSISTANCE WITH BE GIVEN BY YOUR EMBASSY IF YOU GET INTO TROUBLE HIRING ONE"

Thailand will probably refuse to sell their mouldy rice to the countries that cut off their supply scam victims.

Besides, many other scams involve tourists thus making warnings pretty long. Just finished to read Q&A section of Phuket Gazette Online about tuk-tuk scam in Nai Harn and got sick reading the answer given by Thai authorities.
