Absolutely. Like prostitution, it beats working.

"Every time Ive pointed out to a Thai a man in a dress ..."

The mind boggles.

The guy recording the video was a friend of the suspect who wanted a share from pick-pocketing the tourist but the suspect denied and therefore the friend reported it to the police.

Even more boggling.

Other news outlets report the story differently, as one of greed, betrayal, and stupidity beyond comprehension. The police is also still waiting for the Russian to come forward, but he seems to have missed it completely. http://www.pattayaone.net/pattaya-news/100264/bizarre-arrest-pickpocket-caught-on-tape-north-pattaya/

.....so they are holding his money as evidence until he comes forward..........???

No, no...you've got it wrong. That's 'Asian' man in a dress.

I've always prided myself as being pickpocket proof ... although I shouldn't get too smug about it, huh?

I used to live in Bogata, Colombia, which is famous for it's master pickpockets and even pickpocket schools. A couple of friends and I would make sport of it and tease the thieves with tempting, but faked opportunities. My Peace Corps friends played a game of wearing a bright-colored bandana sticking out of their back pocket and would see if they could walk around Bogata and ride it's crowded buses and still come home with the bandana still there. Some days they did, and some they didn't.

Acceptable by some, but as this story shows, not all.
