jt936
I want to change my non b to a non o, and have had over 400k in mutual funds in a Thai bank account for 10 years. Has anyone ever received a non o using mutual funds?? Thanks.
ubonjoe
Funds must be in an account that can be liquidated at any time . Meaning a saving account or a fixed term account.
jt936
Well, according to what you said then a mutual fund can be liquidated at any time. I want to know if anyone has done it. Edited September 3, 2013 by jt936
mahjongguy
A mutual fund account will not be accepted because the value of the principal is subject to decrease.

ubonjoe
Could you have funds on same day requested? That is what is important.
Lite Beer
I don't think you are asking about a Non Imm O visa but an extension of stay. Immigration will only issue if you have a savings account or a fixed account. The only way to get the definitive answer is to go and ask them.
mahjongguy
A forum search for the phrase "mutual fund" yields statements from two or more moderators that such funds are not acceptable. There were no contradictions from the general membership. Two fine bits of nit-picking: - A mutual fund sold to you by a bank employee is not in fact a bank account. They act as an agent for their parent company's brokerage. - Money cannot be withdrawn from a mutual fund on the day it is requested. Make the request anytime on Day 1 and the money will be transferred to your savings account on the following business day.
