I have a O visa ( marriage to a thai) and 400,000 that is in the bank.

I know I'm entitled to work permit.

My question is can I legally be employed for jobs that pay less than ( or whatever the minimum requirement is to get a B visa) 50,000 baht a month?

Will the company still need a minimum number of thai employees before they can hire a foreigner?

thanks

There is no minimum salary to get a work permit. You can get one with no problem. But according to newest rules 4 employees is needed but only need 1 mil of registered capital.

I realize my mistake in confusing a requirement for the visa ( or extension of stay) is when a salary is counted

or use 400,000 in bank.

As of Friday it was still 2 in Bangkok...

'Stated' minimum salary for an Australian is THB50,000... It seems to be an imaginary figure, given that no money changes hands before you're issued with the WP (aside from the fee for the WP of course) - assume all that becomes relative come renewal time etc...

And as the two are not linked by expiration dates - one can apply on an Non-Imm "O" prior to the application for yearly extension.

Registered capital is 1 million, ensure shares are issued as well.. To appease the MOL, interestingly enough, the DBD isn't overly interested in whether or not you issue the shares...

The 50k minimum salary is for getting extensions of stay based upon working.

There is none to get a work permit.

OP does not need to meet any minimum salary requirement. If he chooses to use his salary to meet the financial requirements for his extension it would be 40k baht.

Was the work permit a new one or a renewal that was gotten with only 2 Thai employees.

ubonjoe RE: Salary this was what was explained to me by the lady at the MOL who issued my WP..

No mention regarding immigration status, so perhaps she was stating it as a blanket covering?

2 employees for the issuance and no mention of 4 for the following year, again could be a blanket covering.

I guess like a lot of things here, YMMV.
