PATTAYA:--On 28th August two Chinese Tourists lost their lives in a speedboat accident off the coast of Pattaya as previously reported on Pattaya One.

In one of the first cases to be completed by the new Pattaya Tourist Court, which is designed to speed-up the judicial process to ensure that tourists can resolve cases before they return home, Khun Apichart, Chief Justice from the Pattaya Provincial Court, mediated a formal hearing into the deaths where compensation amounts from Insurance Companies and the owner of the speed boat were agreed upon by all sides.

The families of Mr. Zhang Tao and Mr. Dong Feiyue will both receive 1.3 Million Baht from the boat’s Insurance Company and a further 1 Million Baht from the boat owner in compensation for the deaths.

It looks like the court has been as rapid as promised. Good, long may it continue, and I hope it ensures that the payments are made. It's one thing to agree to pay, quite another to actually hand the cash over.

How...exactly...does one mediate death.

"He's dead"

"No...he is just sleeping"

"He is DEAD"

"Tell you what...maybe he is just dead a little bit"

etc...

ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?

WITNESS: No.

ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure?

WITNESS: No.

ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing?

WITNESS: No..

ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?

WITNESS: No.

ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor?

WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.

ATTORNEY: I see, but could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?

WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law.

even if an outcome is reached and payment made...it is prudent not to ignore the settlement figures.

Would you feel that circa USD30K is sufficient payment for someone to negligently take your life?

The same figure was paid by the Tiger group to the families of the two girls that they incinerated in the Tiger bar in Patong...a one million THB cheque to each of the lucky mothers.

They should have gone to America, would have got a lot more, but probably have to wait decades for it...

Are they going to mediate in jet ski cases too?

And what about tourists scammed and/or assaulted in illegal go-go businesses employing E. European hookers, illegally owned by E. European mafia?

Maybe too difficult.
