September 9, 201312 yr Popular Post Hmm...12 people injured, some due to smoke inhalation..they do not sound "safe" to me. Most likely, the injured parties were uncouth Chinese passengers, who had opened their seatbelts and trying to collect their carry-on luggage from the overhead storage immediately after the plane touched down....... that is the usual scenario on most Chinese flights. while pushing and shoving everyone else out of the way , once the seatbelt off signal is given.
September 9, 201312 yr Popular Post Things happen. Plane crash in Bangkok, 12 people injured. I hope they recover soon. Good to read that the airport crew took out the fire fast. At least the did a better job than the American airport crew, who managed to hit and kill a victim of an airplane crash in the rush to get to the plane.
September 9, 201312 yr "After the accident and evacuation of passengers by slide, the airline moved in maintenance crews who immediately began work that partly covered up the Thai Airways International logo on the tail of the aircraft. (Photo by Panumas Sanguanwong)" I dont think we will ever see the end of this ridiculous act of saving face.

September 9, 201312 yr Is there any information about problems at the airport, flight diversions, delays?
September 9, 201312 yr Go back and read the story he is not the writer but the President of Thai Airlines. I guess if one is going to pan a article they should know who is who and what they are doing or not OK, but the airline it has been a very long standing International airline for decades, if he is going to make statements in English make them so they can be easily understood by all. In the position he holds one would expect better, BUT in this country many persons from university with honors in English etc CANNOT speak/write very good at all. High government officers are the worst by far. Good effort though for trying but the wrong place to try.
September 9, 201312 yr Popular Post They're covering up the flag so that no one knows its a Thai plane! I don't think I will EVER understand why Thais CARE SO MUCH about how other people view them, and what other people think of them. Face. I just don't get it.
September 9, 201312 yr Is there any information about problems at the airport, flight diversions, delays? http://www.suvarnabhumiairport.com/flight_schedule_passenger_arrival_en.php or check with the airline's website, or a flight tracker site.
September 9, 201312 yr Pilot was probably racing the Lufthansa flight due in at about the same time. ------------------------- Now that's one of the silliest replies to any post I've ever heard on this forum.
September 9, 201312 yr Supposed to fly out mid day tomorrow. Anyone know where I can get info on whether flights have been diverted?
September 9, 201312 yr I don't fly in any model Airbus. Look up their record. They have to many "incidents". There are French, British and other nationalities working on Airbus planes. The British make several Models of the Rolls Royce engines which are very good engines. I just don't want a plane that was made by people speaking different languages. There is to much Technical date involved.Nothing negative about either nationality. One common language On a product this complex it is much better. My nephew worked at the Boeing at Everett, Washington, USA. the largest building in the world Under one continous roof. He also said he wouldn't fly in a Airbus plan. I have flown to Thailand probably 8 times in recent year aboard 747's and 777's I trust the General Electric engines and Boeing planes. ChuLai 6768

September 9, 201312 yr 18 years old aircraft ....... thats quite a lot .... ....the average age of Thai Airways airplanes is around 18 years.......not good any more.... And despite old planes and cheap staff, it is one of the most expensive airlines in the world. TIT.

Don't ya know....'Face' is the mask of avoiding accountability and covering up one's incompetence.
September 9, 201312 yr Popular Post Looking at the photos you'll notice there's no emergency evac chute for the pilots. Is this to stop them from fleeing the scene? Just joking. Heel boy!

I don't think I will EVER understand why Thais CARE SO MUCH about how other people view them, and what other people think of them. Face. I just don't get it. Normal here, because they are taught that they are the best at everything events like this puts a dent in their pride and no way can they show any fault. This is sick to say the least, similar to the supposed police cover up of that alleged murder of a foreigner, saying that it is not a good advert for tourism. Our country is the best so nothing here is wrong,-- attitude. Money again is a big factor. Had the energy from these painters was put into helping get the plane out of the way more quick, then disruption would be at a minimum therefore tourism would NOT be affected. I wish they could acquire a better style of thinking for the sake of their country, open their eyes to the world more, but that starts at school.
September 9, 201312 yr Popular Post Painting over the logo seems absolutely ridiculous. This sort of action will just bring more attention to the airline and its safety record. Have the people in charge got no common sense? Actually, don't answer that - I know the answer already.
September 9, 201312 yr Isn't it standard practice to lay blame on the pilot, as a means to take away the onus of suggested poor procedural operations

I have a family member who has been an Airframe Engineer for nigh on 45 years; a senior inspector for more than 20, and he never flys...in any Airliner. He says ''If you knew what i know about aircraft building by any manufacturer you wouldn't fly either''. It's all pot luck if you wish to fly and there are a million reasons why things go wrong; but you are still more likely to die in a road accident. Pointing fingers at one aircraft manufacturer is just plain dumb. You are a deeply biased man.

September 9, 201312 yr Popular Post I have enjoyed reading all the comments, may I suggest we wait on the investigation results before deciding whether to fly Thai again. I began my aircraft maintenance experience with the Georgia Air Guard in 1950 with C-47, P-47 and T-6's up to the B777 when I retired from United Air Lines in 1997. I have 32 years experience as Mechanic, Foreman, Manager and Regional Manager for various US airlines. I also have 26 years USAF as Mechanic and then C-141 Flight/Examiner Engineer. I continue to do consulting as an Auditor/Inspector of aircraft for a major leasing company. I am a Gold Level Mileage Member with Thai and two other airlines. I find Thai aircraft to be clean and well maintained, by the way I like the service too !!
September 9, 201312 yr Seems like the economic crises of the company now can clearly be seen with the increasing accidents and unpolite and incompetent staff. They cannot compromise with the safety and maintenance of their aircraft and put all lives in danger. We understand at times people just want to step up their business but they must not forget their quality for what they are know and have people's trust. "Smooth as Silk" Prove it

Airbus have parts made in different countries because the part is better made there mostly because of expertise in wings (example) engines etc. As for general electric being better engines look at the worlds BEST airlines, most choose RR for long life, fuel efficiency etc. You got shares in GE and Boeing ????
September 9, 201312 yr Popular Post More pics... Why didn't they just paint "Garuda" over the "Thai" logo? Sent from my GT-I9003 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
September 9, 201312 yr A maintenance crew attempts to cover up the national flag and logo of Thai Airways International... First cover the sign, then tend to passengers and fire...ouch, hmmm, has this ever happened before, painting over the sign so quickly? In fairness to Thai airways, it actually is pretty standard practice for a company to paint over the logo of their crashed plane. Guess this painting out was notable due to blinding speed with which it was done. Looks pretty silly to use black paint, maybe they could have spent an extra few minutes and found a can of blue and a can of white paint........ Edited September 9, 201312 yr by EyesWideOpen
September 9, 201312 yr About the painting over of the Logo, that is standard practice for evey airline I have worked for.
September 9, 201312 yr Thai Airways should really be put out of it's misery. Incompetent management, declining service & outrageous prices are just the tip of the iceberg. In the words of Gordon Ramsay, "Shut it down!"
