No slow walking or recieve the wrath of the teenagers!

Must have been hard following the victim at such a slow speed by motorbike. Would have made me furious too!

Maybe it's just because he was just walking, not RIDING across the road. That's not Thainess ... coffee1.gif

Pretty nasty incident but two guys don't constitute a "gang" and "running over" a red light is a strange expression.

I speculate it is the bad economy. No money from Mr. Falang = flared tempers. We all need to be a little more careful out there.

And to think there are some members that will still say that a Thai never belts the hell out of anyone for nothing.

Oh a slow walker, lets beat the hell out of him.

The victim might have made some remark to the motorbike riders who jumped the light and almost hit him .... ? I would have.

Well said.

Sadly there are many teens here that not learning what is right and what is wrong and that goes for the whole country.

Drugs doesn't help matters either but we don't know if they are druggies.

I wonder if the man crossing the street was arguing with the 2 teens before it happened. Thais are generally very patient when driving/riding, but if they are pushed over the limit you better run as guns/machetes will be pulled and used.

This is surely the explanation...or a pre-planned attack related to a business dispute. But don't let this stop all the clueless pattaya and teenager bashing posts from the T-V basement internet keyboard brigade.

I hope they catch them and put them on public display for others to express their opinion of what they have done.

On being taught "what is right and what is wrong." I know a well-respective elementary school teacher who is involved in real-estate fraud. A Thai teacher who is supposed to be a role model is a blatant thief. And she is teaching young kids! It is disgusting. IMHO, this negative trend (lack of moral values) started back when a certain box-headed person came to power (will not mention names here). If anything, the trend is getting worse. As the economy declines and the education system falters even more, we can expect an increase in these types of crimes. Yes, as one person pointed out, maybe it is time to move. I know many people who would move if they could find a better place with similar positive attributes (and, yes, there still are positive reasons to live in Pattaya-Jomtien).

Two against one shows new heights of courage for Thai men. I think they only got this brave because the 'local' looked old, weak, or impaired enough that he couldn't really defend himself. Had it been anybody who might have been able to defend himself they wouldn't have done this unless there were 5 or 6 of them (with weapons) -- you know, the usual Thai man's method of conflict resolution.

Thanks

Rimmer for keeping the dialogue balanced and vitriol free

sad part to me is that bystanders just watched it happen, is my guess.....

If I beat up every Thai person moving slowly who got in my way....that would be hundreds of people every day !! What a stupid thing to happen, those idiots should be locked up. My sympathies to the poor victim...

Phnom Penh, it's a very peaceful town... for foreigners at least. Thailand is a basket case of a country and I only see it getting worse. Sure we have the odd robbery of people stupid enough to be running around with laptops late at night but the numbers of violent attacks on foreigners is amazingly low. I can only think of 2 incidents in the last 12 years. I feel much safer anywhere in Cambodia than I ever did in London or for that matter when I am in Thailand.

When driving in Khon Kaen and I have had some idiot cut me up or do something dangerous I generally respond with a middle finger, which makes my Thai wife very nervous. Having seen so many reports of Thai's responding to perceived slights by attacking people, such as the falang who was stabbed a couple of weeks back when 2 Thai's nearly ran him over and he apparently shouted something at them, so they came back and one stabbed him in the neck.

A very sorry state of affairs and not at all normal

You can only think of 2 incidents in the last 12 years. You don't think very hard then. Read this link

and for anyone else that wants to distort the facts don't do it a quick goggle search will reveal the truth every time.

Cambodia may or may not be safer than Thailand but as in every country there is crime
