Movie Tycoon 'Fed Up' With Tony Jaa

BANGKOK: -- The boss of giant film corporation ′Sahamongkol Film′ will go ahead with the legal action against the action star Tony Jaa, according to the director Prachya Pinkaew.

Mr. Somsak Techaratanaprasert has previously threatened a lawsuit over Tony Jaa′s planned appearance in the upcoming sequel of the American film series Fast and Furious, insisting that the star was still under contract with the company and he was not allowed to star in any foreign film without Mr. Somsak′s approval.

Tony Jaa, whose real name is Panom Yeerum, has maintained that he has terminated the contract with Mr. Somsak′s company - a contract he condemned as business "slavery". Mr. Somsak has disputed those claims.

Mr. Prachya Pinkaew, the famed director of Sahamongkol Film who has worked with Mr. Panom, said in an interview that Mr. Somsak is "fed up" with the action star.

"Jaa has done this kind of thing for so many times. Right now, Sia Jiang is very tired. As far as I know, he′s just fed up. Now we will treat Jaa as a contract violator", said Mr. Prachya, using the nickname of Mr. Somsak.

The case is being discussed by the lawyers of both parties, Mr. Prachya added.

Asked if he is disappointed by the star he has made famous with his own hands (Mr. Panom was launched to fame by Mr. Prachya′s film Ong Bak), the director said he is saddened by how things are unfolding because "we trained him to acting. We had him study English".

Mr. Prachya also accused Mr. Panom of betraying the people who "brought him to his fame" during his pursuit for wealth after his ascension to international recognition.

"We are at the point where he earns more than his director," Mr. Prachya said.

Apparently, someone explained to Somsak that it was Tony Jaa who broke any contract, not the producers of "Fast and Furious 7".

I wonder if he figured it out before embarrassing himself by confronting them.

Getting the wrong side of "sia jiang" will be the end of his career here in Thailand. Nobody will dare hire him.

Unless he thinks he can find work overseas, he'll have to resort back to doing low budget b-movies like he had to a while ago.

F&F will make him a international star,

with enough money to fight off this old contract for a long time.

And this only means he will have trouble working in Thailand,

which is small time in the scheme of things.

Good luck Tony, you're headed to the show,

let the lawyers deal with the big egos you left back in the little pond.

He desperately wants to make sure his name is associated with Tony Jaa, should anything in Hollywood take off. In reality, he's a sleazeball, who pretends to "own" actors. Give it a few years, and this definitely won't be the case. Blokes like this will be dinosaurs and the celebs will be holding their own destiny instead of letting some Sia blokey claim any influence at all.

Anyone have any links to Tony's side of the story detailing exactly why he feels it's business slavery? I think Mr. Somsak is upset that he's not getting the Thai-style cut for bossman. Tony should just sell all his assets or move them into the family, then take his huge payout and move to Thaitown in LA. It's very close to Hollywood.

Why the need to mention that he makes more than the director? In Hollywood that is often the case. Tony Jaa is the draw of the movies, definitely NOT the story line or content.

It sounds like the typical Thai cultural hierarchy statement.

Once the contract is taken care of, Tony can just move on and have a taste of a life that includes a salary of more than 30,000 THB a month... -sic-

Who is Tony Jaa (who really cares) and what Lakorn does he star in? coffee1.gif

Well I would ask that question to google if I wanted to find out rather than Replying to a POST with questions and not caring to get any answers.....

It's been a mutually beneficial association till now. So let him go and wish him well.

GREED defeats any amical parting of way. Rich, superstar producer and rich, superstar actor both with egos to match. It's all about the money.
