Monks to get free joint surgeries

BANGKOK, 19 September 2013 (NNT) – Buddhist monks and priests of other religions who suffer from Osteoarthritis will get a free joint surgery at Phyathai Hospital 2.


According to Associate Professor DR. Thanainit Chotanaphuti, Chairman of Hip & Knee society of Thai Orthopaedic Association, Phyathai Hospital 2 will provide free surgeries to monks, novices, and priests of other religions who are suffering from Osteoarthritis and cannot afford the treatment.

The project has been launched in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the occasion of his 86th birthday anniversary, said the doctor, adding that not only will the project cover joint surgeries, but also pre- and post-operative checkups for the patients.

Monks, novices, and priests may contact Phyathai Hospital 2 or call 1772 for more information.The project will provide medical services to at least 86 monks.

The reason why Phyathai Hospital 2 has been chosen is that it is ready and fully equipped with medical teams and staff nurses, medical devices, modern surgery rooms, and most importantly osteoarthritis specialists, Dr. Thanainit added.

Thai spa industry uplifted through World Spa & Well-being Convention 2013

BANGKOK, 19 September 2013 (NNT) – The World Spa & Well-being Convention 2013 has been held with an aim to showcase Thailand’s spa service industry, given millions of travelers visit Thailand for spa therapies.

During the World Spa & Well-being Convention 2013, held at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office Warathep Rattanakorn said each year Thailand sees millions of visitors who come for massage and spa therapies, making the spa industry one of the factors boosting the country’s tourism industry. Not only do people come for spa services, many of them also come to learn about the traditional Thai massage, adding that the industry has created millions of jobs in Thailand, especially for women.

Spa products are very popular among foreigners in terms of quality and standard, evinced by the volume of products being exported worldwide, said Warathep.

The World Spa & Well-being Convention 2013 showcased Thailand’s latest spa innovations. Organizes created a zone called “Education Village,” where visitors could learn about spa treatments and health food cooking.

The event also provided opportunities for spa service operators to discuss business deals. 20 outstanding spa entrepreneurs were presented with the Thailand Spa & Well-being Awards.
