Anyone did a 60 day extension based on visiting child at Phuket Immigration recently?

Hello T.V members,

Has anyone been to Phuket Imm and got a 60 day extension, based on visiting a Thai child and not took their child?

I'm in Phuket and I was told I could get the 60 day extension after a normal 15 day entry stamp but the problem is my daughter isn't with me right now and I won't see her for another week.

I was going to make another border run but I'd rather have a 60 day extension.

Can it be done without my daughter at Phuket Imm though?

Thanks in advance smile.png

Thanks Ubonjoe, I'm popping in there tomorrow, armed with only a copy of the B.C and my passport so will ask if that's enough. Last time I got one in Lopburi I had a copy of the ex's I.D card but not sure I'll get it in time. Will let the forum know how it goes.

I can just say try. Normally most immigration doesn't push for the child to be with you.

Is the child living with you? If not, you do not qualify for the extension, as it is for living with the child, not for visiting it.

One of the required documents is the house book child is listed in.

The 60 day extension clause says visiting a Thai spouse or child.

I was under the impression one also needed a copy of the (and have the original) marriage certificate along with the birth certificate. Having your name on the bc I have been told does not make you the legal father.

For a 60 day extension the parent does not need to be married or have their parenthood legitimized. Only for one rear extensions and multiple entry visas is is that needed.

The last time I got one, which was back in July. All I took was a copy of the BC and the ex's I.D card and copies of my passport.

I got it with no problems or questions asked but that was in Lopburi where they sort of remember me and my daughter. So maybe that sways things a little.

I was just about to head over there but gonna get the house doc and try and get ex's I.D copy just to be on the safe side.

Thanks Chaps will let you know the outcome. smile.png

I stand corrected. Thank you for pointing it out. I was mistakingly thinking of the one-year extension but this topic is clearly about the 60-day extension.

Well, I went there today with my usual paperwork, a copy of my passport details, a copy of the B.C, a copy of the ex's I.D card and a copy of the house book.

The Imm guy politely said he could not issue it here and I would have to go back to the local Imm in Lopburi. that being the nearest to the address in the house book. I told him I could show him pictures proving relationship seeing as my daughter wasn't with me but again he refused.

It's funny because I remember going to Nong Khai and getting a 60 day extension there without my daughter and just the ex and a copy of the B.C with no probs at all. That was about 5 years ago so things must of tightened up since then or Phuket Imm do things on a stricter level.

Oh well it's back to Satun's lovely little border at Wang Prachan. It only takes about 5 mins at the border and it's the simplest border run I've ever done. Except for the 8 hour journey on the bus. tongue.png

No visa fee or huge sticker, just stamp out on Thai side, walk about 50 metres to the other, stamp in at the left window then make a few steps to your right and stamp out at the right window. Walk back over and stamp back in. I asked the Imm guy how many times could I do this. His answer was. "Many times here, no problem" Which is nice smile.png

Off topic a bit sorry about that. wai.gif

Yes, things have tightened up. You are now supposed to use the immigration office for the area where you are living only.

In case for this kind extensions, that will be the office for where the child is registered unless you show proof that the child is actually living elsewhere.
