He did not tarnish it.... His reputation got tarnished from Democrat hogwash vendettas and their using the courts to attack him viciously in the hopes that he would never run for president again. Which, most of the voters seem to realize which ifs why he will be the next president again. Why you still do not see that is beyond me. -

His complaint basically holds for the entire legacy media so faithfully believed by the sheeple many examples of which has been on display here. The Cheney "firing squad" being a glaring example of this. -
