September 27, 201312 yr No beer deliveries to Tesco Express or 7-11 here in Rhek Thum for ten days now. Only thing left in the coolers is two dozen Hiney Kin, and one Archer. No one knows anything. Same everywhere?
September 27, 201312 yr Same here in Kalasin... the wholesalers seem to still have stock though. totster
September 27, 201312 yr Mate, that you would know, but many of the sub-forums have a similar running topic. Shelves are empty in many places ... alcohol tax increase we think. Buy early, sell later at a higher price
September 27, 201312 yr Author Mate, that you would know, but many of the sub-forums have a similar running topic. Shelves are empty in many places ... alcohol tax increase we think. Buy early, sell later at a higher price When does the tax go into effect? How do scoundrels they make more money by holding it if they only add tax to it later?

Same everywhere? I know that if there were 24 Heinekens left than I would be set that's what I know. Needless to say that is my beer.
September 27, 201312 yr Same here in Samutprakarn, no beer at Makro's, Tesco or 7-11, and i don't understand this tax hike reason either. They could have ordered as normal and just put it up when the hike was agreed by parliament. Gonna get worse if the floods come

At a fair profit, of course.
September 27, 201312 yr Author What about in the bigger cities? Same? Makro? Are you saying there's little or no beer? Bear in mind, I live at the edge of the world here.
September 27, 201312 yr On Phuket no supply issues at all... All mainstream sales channels (like Makro, Big c Extra etc) seem to be able to sell as normal.....
September 27, 201312 yr Popular Post slim dusty would have liked this topic , the pub with no beer.......
September 27, 201312 yr slim dusty would have liked this topic , the pub with no beer....... So would a lot of others: Anne Kirkpatrick & Slim Dusty, Bobbejaan Schoepen (Benelux, Germany, Austria, 1959/1960), Johnny Cash, Bluey Francis, Errol Gray, Foster & Allen, Gordon Parsons, The Irish Rovers, Johnny Greenwood, John Williamson (performed a parody version of the song called "A Dog With No Hair"), Nokturnl, Richard Clayderman, Rodney Vincent, The Singing Kettles, Stewart Peters and The Ten Tenors. Wikipedia can be fun - but no beer ain't.
September 27, 201312 yr i would imagine people buying up stock and then when the price goes up due to tax they can pocket the extra bit for themselves (small sellers that dont pay tax that is). I buy leo today at 47 baht Next week i can sell it for 52 baht (or whatever it comes to) it doesnt seem like much, but many of these small shops run on a margin of only a few baht.
September 27, 201312 yr slim dusty would have liked this topic , the pub with no beer....... Stone the flamin' crows mate, I've read a lot of depressing stuff here on TV over the years, but this is fair dinkum serious sh_t!

Buy early, sell later at a higher price When does the tax go into effect? How do scoundrels they make more money by holding it if they only add tax to it later? nonsense, the profits made would hardly justify not selling beer at all. it is definitely related to the new tax, however it is the breweries holding back product until the details are worked out
September 27, 201312 yr Poor barflies. how can life go on.. One would assume that wanting to buy beer from a supermarket or 7-11 would mean they are not going to be drinking it in a bar... totster
September 27, 201312 yr create a shortage and thus a price increase. this stpidity over holding stock back until the price increase goes into effect is well stoopid. who wants to lose sales. fools.what you do is buy well in advance large quantities and sell away.I was a retailer and did this for a living. whats being done here is mindless stuff
September 27, 201312 yr These guys deliver anywhere in Thailand for around 300 baht, is what they quoted me for a central Isaan doorstep delivery. They will take cash on delivery as well. Mind you its ales and Belgians and other atrocities, tho' there should be a few odd adjunct lagers in there, Stella, Heineken probably. They emailed us saying they weren't going to raise prices despite the tax increase and that things would be business as usual. I haven't actually used their services but am tempted. http://www.wishbeer.com
September 28, 201312 yr Beers producers and importers cant distribute/import any new beer yet as they're waiting on the government to tell them how much taxes they are going to pay with the new law. That explains the shortages...
September 28, 201312 yr No shortages in BKK that I've seen though plenty of places have raised prices by 10B.
September 28, 201312 yr I think its the big stores, all the beer wholesalers in town have got stock which goes to all the small shops so they are right, price has gone up but. But the big stores are waiting for ? . I was in Makro Chan two weeks ago, only Heineken, San Miguel and Tiger. Last week, they had oodles of Leo and Singha and couldn't put it out fast enough
September 28, 201312 yr My 7/11 next door in BKK only´s got Leo now. So at some places there seem to be shortages.
September 28, 201312 yr Most distributors increased their prices without knowing what will be the tax increase... They just make more money with what they have kept in stock
September 28, 201312 yr Could it be anything to do with the floods that aren't happening. (Don't mention the flooding) It was the beer that dried up first during the last big floods.
September 28, 201312 yr No shortages in BKK that I've seen though plenty of places have raised prices by 10B. With respect spadie ... "No shortages in BKK" ... far from the truth. Though in your covered area in Bangkok ... I'm sure ... but not in my covered area in Bangkok. Different mileage ... different experiences. Empty shelves here.
September 28, 201312 yr With respect spadie ... "No shortages in BKK" ... far from the truth. It would be better if you read the full sentence "No shortages in BKK that I've seen"
