Banana republic.

Still nothing in Tesco Rangsit today, our local beer and spirits outlet had Chang Classic for 640 Baht a slab of 24, large stack of it :)

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Same here in Chiang Mai. Bike ride survey:

Tesco : 10 Heinekens left

Independant marts: almost anything available except Chiang.

7-11 : Absolutely nothing.

My backroad small grocery store: Anything you want. He bought and stored anything he could...

Prices are 20% more though!

Oh the humanity!

If you lived in Rhek Thum, you'd drink, too.

Although, two's my daily limit.

Perhaps the answer is that the brewers/distributors are holding back as a protest to the tax hike?

Nah.

Still no answer as to why the shelves are empty.

i was helping a friend move into a new condo yesterday and the shelves at the local convenience stores were well stocked.... with a new higher prices.

I only drink 2 a day also.. I save them up and drink em all on Saturday.

totster :)

I've been beerless for exactly 2 years now and let me tell you I miss that rancid taste of a singha, Leo, Heineken, Corona etc

they aren't out of beer, they just boosted stock of pre-taxed beer and aren't putting it on display so they can sell it later at higher prices. they will add 1-2 baht to the price when the tax increases kick in so that consumers just assume its all the tax increase.

You are way behind; the increase kicked in nearly three weeks ago and has been applied since to any beer that is being sold.

What about in the bigger cities? Same? Makro?

Are you saying there's little or no beer?

Bear in mind, I live at the edge of the world here.

Don't have the same problem here In Khon Kean,,,All the shelves are well and truly stocked intheclub.gif

So I went to the next burg over. Plenty of beer, all brands.

But the Tesco Express and 7-11 here are still out after two weeks.

Bizarre.

Life in Rhek Thum.

Here in Pin Klao 7-Elevens everything's fine. And has always been. Same with Tescos.
