Jamie
My wife and daughter are currently in Thailand visiting family. Wife was a Thai national, now is a US citizen. Daughter is a US citizen. Other than the visa run to Laos, etc, what other options do they have to stay longer than 30 days? Was quickly looking online earlier and seen requirements for proof of financial means of 40,000 baht though this is for a tourist visa. Any help is appreciated. ubonjoe
Your wife still has Thai nationality unless she formally renounced her citizenship. Meaning your daughter is also Thai by birth. If your wife has her ID card, house book or birth certificate she can apply for a 1 year extension at immigration. The same for your daughter if you have her birth certificate. Also children under 15 do not pay over stay fines.
Jamie
ubonjoe, Thank you sir. I appreciate the reply. If they decided to do a visa run to Laos, is it as simple as walking through, getting stamped and turning around which allows for the extra 30 days of stay? samran
Best sort your wife's new Thai passport if possible and citizenship via decent for your daughter so you aren't caught out next time. But as others have said, a quick trip to immmigration and proof of Thai citizenship will have those US visas extended. Better than the expense of going to the border and getting Lao visa's etc.
