Australian ETA Visa for American with Thai Retirement Extension?

Featured Replies

I'd like to visit Australia and would prefer to get an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)) visa online but am wondering if I meet the requirements. Although I have a Thai retirement extension I don't have a permanent address here--have done a lot of extended traveling in the 18 months since I've left the U.S. but have kept a permanent address there.

According to my research if I live outside the U.S. I may not be eligible for the ETA. Actually I don't know where I "live" since I've been traveling quite a bit. I recently returned from a 4 month stay in China. If I use my permanent U.S. address on the ETA application will there be problems at Immigration because of my Thai Visa and 18 month absence from the USA?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Get in anyway you can.....just don't take a boat. Sorry.

The fact you have suggested you have a retirement visa says it all Sante.

Looks like you have done a lot of travel in the last 18 months as a retired person however the Thai visa does not change your permanent place of residence which is the USA.

Use your US address as that is your domicile and where you have most likely spent all of your life.

Oz immigration take a relaxed view on people like you who are hardly likely to want to come and work.

Good luck on your travels
