Foreign National injured in motorbike accident involving Truck in Jomtien

crash-4.jpg

PATTAYA: -- On Tuesday afternoon Police and rescue workers were called to the scene of a serious road accident involving two motorbikes and a stationary truck.

The accident occurred on the Sukhumvit Road in Jomtien and resulted in serious injuries sustained to a Thai woman and her foreign male passenger on a high-powered Kawasaki Motorbike, which, according to witnesses, was driving at a high rate of speed.

The bike is thought to have clipped the driver-side wing-mirror of a car and then hit a Motorbike Taxi. Both bikes fell to the grounds and the drivers and foreign passenger were thrown onto the road and into the path of a stationary truck driven by Khun Somporn aged 48, who had pulled over to take a phone call.

No helmets in evidence......

No helmets in evidence......

Obviously the cause of the accident. No need for a detailed examination now. Well done Sherlock! facepalm.gif

Big bike ridden by a Thai lady, almost certainly with out proper training, recipe for disaster. They are both lucky to be alive.

Driver pulled over to take the call......nothing wrong with that, unless he pulled over in the middle of the road.

It happens.

Curious, though, that today the reporter struggled with originality and used the term "foreign national". It is often humorous to read the tripe that these self-idealized "reporters" spew out to seemingly demonstrate their "impressive" command of the English language. Additionally, their headlines often do not mesh with the content of the article and bring about implications that do not materialize when reading the crap they print or type. Idiots!

Bad morning? Where did I say that that was the cause of the accident???

No helmets in evidence......

Or cops. Presumably they were still 'rushing' to the scene.

Jeez.... how does a stationary truck have a path? It's like "the parked car was traveling at a high rate of speed". Huh? And kudos to driver for pulling over to take a phone call. Most of us probably seen folks on motorbikes chatting away on their phones.

Why would you say that? The motorbike taxi driver was doing nothing wrong and the truck driver did the right thing by pulling over to use his phone as apposed to many who just use their phone while driving. I think you have a lot to learn about what is right and what is wrong sir.

Anyways, I hope everyone pulls through ok.

No, not a bad morning, just a wet one! I just don’t understand why make a comment that would not question the cause, which the wearing or not of a helmet has no affect smile.png

....in any particular sequence....oh yes...the sequence that casts all the blame on the foreigner....

With the exception of you. What are the odds of someone on here misrepresenting and embellishing the story to pad out their post? Pretty high.

The truck was stationary because the driver had pulled over to take the call according to the report and the only mention of a van was in Patje's post.

It happens.

The same comment could easily be made, both regarding the command of English and the crap they type, with respect to posts on some message boards by purported native English speakers.

"the sequence that casts all the blame on the foreigner...."

What are you talking about? The only mention of a foreigner is that he was injured.

Foreign National injured

Both bikes fell to the grounds and the drivers and foreign passenger were thrown onto the road ...

Manufacturing facts to suit your world view??

How did the reporter "struggle with originality" and what was the "tripe" that the object of your derision was seen to "spew" out? Seemed to be factual reporting unless you were there to tell us otherwise.

Foreign national would appear to be a good description of the injured man, what phrase would you use with your impressive command of the English language?

Unless a foreign national, motorbike and truck were not involved in an accident in Jomtien, as reported, the headline is very accurate and "meshes" well with the report and there do not appear to be any non-materialising implications.

The "crap" and "idiots" in this case do not appear to be those involved in the reporting of this incident.

Jeez.... how does a stationary truck have a path? It's like "the parked car was traveling at a high rate of speed". Huh?

Jeez...it's a translation from an originally Thai language report. Was it difficult for you to understand the meaning of the report?

And nothing at all like "the parked car was travelling at a high rate of speed".

I just can not see how a stationary truck can run over somebody, maybe it was a stationery truck.

Obviously the fault of the truck driver. If he had not stopped this would not have happened??

High powered motorcycles and the sukhumvit road don't make for good bedfellows. To you fellow bikers, I'm extremely sorry to hear this and wish you a speedy recovery.

WRONG! It's all definitely the fault of the "foreign national". If he hadn't come to Thailand, the woman driver of the Kawasaki would never have been driving that morning on that particular road, never would have clipped the mirror of the truck, and then crashed into the Motorsi Taxi.

No, definitely ALL the fault of the "foreign national".

I do obviously not know who caused what here and the newspaper article doesn't make it any clearer. I was just amazed that 2 people on a big bike, one a foreigner, were apparently not wearing helmets.

If it is any consolation: very wet in Siem Reap too.

General flame removed also a quoted reply

This was a very serious accident My friend was first on the scene and stayed with the farang driver who was driving the high speed bike till the rescue team arrived ,At the time he was drifting in and out of consciousness arm fairly well torn from observation .He died in the hospital Wed morning . The female passenger was well and truly wedged under the back axle of the truck and couldn't be moved ,she was losing lots of blood nobody could do anything , the truck was not stationary as reported .The girl was not expected to survive due to her injuries and last News would be deceased by tonight Wed.

As usual so so sad no police to endorse the law and if you see the latest news another high powered motorbike driven by a Russian ..speed related chopped himself clean in half! What do we do applaude , all well and good till its someone you know.

RIP.

Right is right, so wrong must be left and that's where the truck was parked.......so who's wrong?........right!

Huhhhh?

Why cant people , especially foreigners drive slowly and careful on their big bikes. As a car driver I always pay attention to the traffic and look in the mirrors for bikes on my left and right side. I avoid accidents by doing this. Some people just have a death wish.

Well I guess that's why we have such strict road laws and punishments in our Western World to control some of us from this behavior unfortunately it also includes the majority to which also extends to law abiding citizens as well , to protect ourselves but more importantly others ( We don't really like it , but it does sort of work). The temptation once alcohol is added to the entertainment mix is too much and there are no barriers here or anything that acts or resembles barriers prior to an incident . Guess perhaps some think invincible super heros out to prove their so thought superiority. The smart person already knows the result that's what makes them careful on the roads here but there are missiles in the form of anything from bikes to trucks ,buses , cars . My advice to any newbie to these roads is even if you think you drive carefully you have to watch ALL directions and always anticipate the worst scenario. The old saying speed kills is still so true , but here you need to also consider the speeding crossing or coming into your path. SAFE WISHES TO ALL!
