going to RCA alone?

I wanted to go to RCA tonight but my friends have bailed out with hangovers.

I've never been there and don't want to wait another week, is it the kind of place I could go alone and not be bored/uncomfortable? I'm 25, don't speak thai. Want to try and meet some university girls of course.

I've been out at clubs before where my friends have gone home, and I stayed out and had a great time. But thats different from starting out alone.

Tip the server who brings out your whiskey 100 baht to retain good graces. feeling baller? tip the staff who brought you to the table 100 baht too and you could even tell them "i come alone...but want to meet nice lady". dont be reserved about that. the place will be bumpin by 11. Now is the time to bust out the "chon gao" ("cheers" in Thai). THAT is your IN. Cheersing with those around you will be a nice way to break the ice. Dont be over dramatic with it, just look at the girl at the table next to you, catch her eye, smile politely and raise your glass to hers. But dear god, check to be sure she isn't with anyone. Now cheers any guys that are near your table, and be sure the girl sees it, so as to give the impression you aren't just desperately pussy hunting (which you are of course).

By 12 the place will be packed, a throbbing mass of green lights and gyrating bodies, and you will be too inebriated to remember any other advice.

Rca is a good strip of clubs. Id go alone, why not. San Frandisco used to be good.

I have been there..found it hard to mix as Thais are real group orientated. In the end a bit of luck but problem is that Thais seem to stick to their groups much more as back home.

The truth is, if you can be bothered with it and have enough confidence you will actually do far better at chasing 8+ pussy alone than in a group. Thai birds will immediately be on the back foot with a group of white guys if you look like anything less than a cheesy bent pop star.

It's 100% down to how high you set the bar as to how well you will do. By the end of the night, there'll be pissed up 6's and 7's approaching you, but to land anything exceptional it will likely take quite a few visits tho.

Nice advice.... yes once im drunk none of it will matter anyway. Its just getting into that relaxed state of mind...

And to add to that.. Almost all thai birds will give you a number or something when they are drunk.. anything decent almost certainly has a bf though and ain't so easy to bat in.

Stick to lower Sukhumvit I don't think RCA is missing you.

Depends on the type of person you are.

If you are anti social and awkward you're probably not going to make any friends or meet any women due to the nature and set up of clubs there, i.e. drinking whisky with friends at a table.

If you're not socially awkward and put some effort in, speaking Thai would help but not essential, you can get invited to a table.

Try and get chatting to Thai guys first and get them inviting you to into their mixed group or introducing you to girls. If a Thai guy introduced you to a Thai girl he's essentially social proofing you and it will help you a lot.

Don't expect a one night stand though not impossible.

Even though a lot of the girls at RCA particularly at Route 66 are into white guys many won't go home with you on the first night because they are worried what other people will think (people in Thailand worry far too much what other people think!) so you'll probably just collect a few numbers and can follow up next week for a one on one.

Inviting a Thai girl was a seriously bad idea if you aren't interested in her and want to hit on girls. How do you know this girl? If she's going out with you it's probably because she likes you and you'll probably going to end up playing for her night out.

At RCA people tend to sit around and just chat with the people they came with. Not the best place to go alone. There are better places to go if your running solo, especially if you looking to find some female company.

Not hard to meet people if you are young, decent looking, and sociable.

Second they tend to stick to their groups. It takes a lot more than just confidence, looks and a smooth talk. Based on my experience I would say its near impossible so I wouldn't even try.

You never been to a Thai style club? That's how they all are. No dance floor. The whole club is filled with small tables you stand around. You need to chat up people near your table.

here there is no dance floor.. No people moving around. Just stood in circles around tables.

You get one night stands often from RCA? How often?

Whilst it's definitely possible and I've done it and seen other guys do it I've yet to see anyone do it regularly.

Usually need a bit of luck, i.e. girl is drunk, she somehow manages to escape her friends, no cockblocker friends out that night.

If you are in Route 66 it's filled with other farang. It's mentioned in the Lonely Planet so what did you expect?

You do know that 90% of women in Levels are freelance hookers, right?

The club gives them free drinks to go there.

They are a slight step above the hookers you might find at Insanity or Spicy but hookers none the less.

At least the women at RCA aren't p4p.

Levels is in the Farang Ghetto and is mostly freelancer hookers. It is not a normal club. RCA is what normal clubs are like all over Thailand. Most places not aimed at farang are like this, so get used to it!

Completely agree.

I find it very suspect when guys are claiming they regularly get one night stands from RCA, Thong Lor etc because I know a lot of guys many who are decent looking blokes and do pretty well with women in general yet still can't claim it happens that often here in BKK.

Even the Thai guys I know say that they don't get one night stands very often if at all so I don't think being Thai helps too much more but definitely a slight boost over being a farang.

The social aspect of it is just too strong. If she goes off with a farang then everyone in her group will judge her and she doesn't want that.

My experience is if you ask for her number she will give it (they always do so as not to cause confrontation) and you'll either not get a response when you text her or she'll be dying to meet you in secret.
