Those here who have had it done via their ''ritual'' will always defend it. Nooooooooo question. rolleyes.gif

The "ritual" like having it done in a modern hospital by a trained surgeon?

As you know I am not a religious guy but I know you probably were cut about cos of a ritual. I do believe your custom is to have a party where toddlers are cut about in a ritual. Is that correct ?

You seemed obsessed with Jewish stuff. Perhaps read a book or something. I told you already -- I was raised totally secular. I was cut in a hospital just like my Christian buddies by a DOCTOR and he may not have even been a Jewish doctor (though good chance he was). Perhaps a hint for you, Islam is a religion and so is Judaism but Jewish is ALSO an ethnic/cultural identity group not requiring religious practice. Cheers.

Nooo, not obsessed with Jewish stuff at all. I just do not accept a babe being cut about for a ritual. We are having a discussion and you have not answered my question, not interested in the circumstances of your ''actual surgery'' , just want an answer to my question.

You asked if there was a party. The link answers that. Yes there is a type of "party" in the sense that people are invited and there is a social gathering for those doing the traditional Jewish bris ceremonial ritual. Is that not the question you asked? This isn't mysterious information, dude. I think you've already made it clear before that you think religious ritual circumcision is barbaric so I reckon you won't be accepting any invitations to bris gatherings, eh?

cheers everyone for help l have clinic in bkk 15000 baht. he will be a happy boy

I expect he will gurgle with delight while he is being modified. Be sure to negotiate a discount for what the clinic can sell the unwanted tissue for for use in stem cell research. American doctors often omit to mention to parents that they have this additional income from the procedure.

Perhaps JT can enlighten us to these figures,

http://minorityhealth.hhs.gov/templates/content.aspx?ID=3019

Totally off topic. Nothing in that link about circumcision at all. Why did you even post that? Don't you know the difference between the continent of Africa and African Americans? coffee1.gif

Yes and this is Thailand where the Op lives.

If you cant understand, take a look at the HIV figures, African/American HIV rates at almost 8 times the rate of their peers.

Do your own research, AA circumcison rates are roughly the same as their peers, so why the difference in rates?

Just because a site doesnt agree with your views doesnt make it anti or otherwise.

What arguemnt was used for this barabaric practice prior to these HIV studies carried out in Africa in the '90s, many cling to this study much like a drunk clings to a lamp post for support.

Why were kids being snipped in the '60s, '70s or '80s prior to this groundbreaking theory, for one reason only, religious ritual.

Well this is the year 2013, and the modern world, not the Middle east of 2,000 years ago.

That being said I support the OPs right to make his choice, and I would like to think its based on his choice and not because of religious practices.

You're totally off base with your conclusions about the African American stats. For your African American stats to be meaningful you'd need need to isolate that population who are strictly heterosexual, don't do any MSM, and don't do any IV drug use. Then with that much smaller subset, you could then compare the cut and the uncut. The truth is in that community there is a massive amount of "down low" gay sex, a ridiculously high rate of prison incarceration where MSM occurs as well, and of course the IV use.

Again, as I've said before, the VAST MAJORITY of American males of my generation were circumcised, and the vast majority of those procedures were done for no religious/tribal reasons whatsoever. The reasons at the time were better hygiene and also social conformity. Yes the reasons have evolved, and the social conformity reason in the U.S. is no longer relevant. Cheers.

Yes. Of course. It was a global JEWISH conspiracy. Sure thing, mate. cheesy.gif

BTW, why don't you just say the word Jewish when that's what you mean? Hilarious.

I think if you actually did some research rather than throw out such loaded ethnic insinuations, you'd find that the real historical roots of mass circumcision in America is based on hard core Christian puritanism -- the insane belief that circumcision reduced masturbation. Masturbation used to be considered a MENTAL ILLESS in the USA. Before my time, but that's the historical roots of a custom that became pervasive.

I am also revolted by your insinuation about Jewish control during that era. During the era that I was born (where most males were cut) my ethnically Jewish father who fought in WW2 with a dogtag labelled H for Hebrew (imagine how that would have gone down if he was taken prisoner by the Nazis) felt compelled to CHANGE HIS LAST NAME because there was total discrimination against Jews in the professional field he had trained for. I am not proud that he did that, but I respect he was right to do that to care for his family's future.

A weeeeee story for you. I am going back many decades now. I was 6, my sister was 4, we kept having sore throats, hhhmmmm, yep, it was deemed that we must have our Tonsil's removed sad.png . My sister and I, hand in hand walked into the ward scared shitless. We were put in beds next to each other. Next day woke up wrapped in a blanket cocoon, could not move, blood all over the thing, I could move my head, looked for my sister, she was in a cocoon with blood on it, asleep. I looked around, the ward was full of kids in a cocoon. sad.png

That memory will always be with me. Scared shitless and worried about my sister.

My point, DON'T even think that stuff does not affect kids cos it does, for some stays for life (me).

On a happier note, I now can sing like Barry Manilow. smile.png

Always a good idea to mutilate your newborn child biggrin.png Hello son, your mom and I have decided that millions of years of evolution was wrong, but fortunately some guy on a cloud none of us have ever met or seen came to the rescue, and helped us decide which bodyparts you should keep and which you shouldn't.

And no, when it comes to operating your child, based on anything other than health issues as recommended by a doctor, parents wishes should not be respected - at all. Fortunately more and more countries in the EU are banning circumcision.

Which countries have specifically banned all non-medically necessary circumcisions? I am very skeptical. You are saying some countries make it illegal for Jews and Muslims to follow their religions? Really?

It's illegal for a religion to kill women and children but they do. coffee1.gif

Oh great, something else for the indignant to get their knickers in a twist over.

Nothing stopping them following their religions, just as there is nothing stopping them getting on a plane and flying to whichever country allows the practice, then flying back to wherever.

You missed the point. A poster asserted that circumcision was illegal in some European countries. I am skeptical. I'd like to see a list. That's all.

No my point was based on your last sentence, if you wanted to see a list thats all you would have needed to ask.

Like you I would like to see a list, nice to know there are progressive countries around these days who wont be held to ransom by religious nut jobs.

Nice try. I remain skeptical that there is even one European country that bans all non-necessary male circumcisions.

I wonder who it was who first had the bright idea to tamper with nature in this way.

Maybe the same person who came up with body piercing?

w00t.gif

It is found in a number of tribal cultures. It's not only a Jewish/Muslim thing in origin. Given that there are health benefits to this the ancients may have been wiser than many are willing to give them credit for.

jingthing relax...

btw, in case anyone really wants to know: when my son had his brit (bris for all you ashkenazi jews in the states), we were yelled at by the mohel (ritual circumcisor who, btw, goes thru professional courses as well sa being a religious figure) because we were heathen kibbutzniks (what is eliahu's chair? why do we need a box of sand? (to bury the foreskin so that when teh messiah returns and we rise form the dead, we will have all our missing parts, indluding the foreskin)... (which is why organ donors here are a problematic thing but thats a nuther story).

circumscision si aobut like piercing your daughter's ears for earrings (potential allergenics and also cysts in teh earlobe) and yet noone makes a fuss about it ... there are worse things in life that people do to their kids then snip a bit of skin at 8 days old, and here, nowadays, painkiller cream is used, acamol is administerd and medical followup os very good - we have quite a few brits every year since we have a high birht count here on my kibbutz. some parents elect to do the snip ina hospital and then the brit party at a later time , others are more traditional or have traditional grandparents, so do the whole thing. btw, this is when a child gets a 'godfather', so that if something were to happen to parents (i.e. father) then there will be a provider for him. jing did u know that???

its common here as well...

no doubt the girls living in ol' blighty love getting carted back to the mother land for a nice bit of female gentilation mutilation.

as for banning in the eu, particularly england, i very much doubt it. look at the two bearded boys attending a catholic???school who were banned for breaking the school rules and initialy told they wouldnt be back until they lost the beards. lo and behold they are now back there, beards intact as in specific cultural instances its ok.... this is fine by me provided girls can wear lippy, emos their eye liner and so

Whereas, you want your boy to become a porn star,

...how many uncut knobs do you see in porn flicks ? ...

and whereas, the porn industry is an industry with high endemic rates of HIV,

...As for justifying this procedure then you need to ask 'The World Health Organisation' and 'UNAIDS' who

recommend circumcision as part of a comprehensive program for prevention of HIV transmission in areas with high endemic rates of HIV
...

now therefore, go forth and have your boy circumcised.

Why do you miss your skin ? I feel like to cut it as an adult, but don't know where they can do it.

Go to a large government hospital near to where you live and that'll be about the cheapest place to have it done.

Don't forget to leave a tip.     :sorry:
