Rice Husks - another use.

When we have persistent rain as we have had over the last 2 months, falling leaves and constant dampness result in black extremely slippery areas on the concrete paths and drive.

Usually, I will clean these areas with bleach and elbow grease when we get a dry period.

When I am unable to scrub the area, I will normally spread some sand so that no-one will slip when walking.

Last week I went ass over elbow on one of these slippery patches. I had no sand available and so spread rice husks over the area.

3 or 4 days later, I swept up the husks with a stiff broom and was amazed to see that the black had gone with it.

Even after further rain, it was no longer slippery.

When I think about the times that I have scrubbed and scrubbed with cleaning chemicals and seemed to fight a losing battle.

:-D Nature always has a way to clean up after itself.

That is true. I just wish that nature could send me an email to let me know instead of letting me discover for myself :)

Not sure how much rice husk you used there. Could the mould have gone from being in the dark?

Otherwise, I'm going to manufacture some rice-husk athletes-foot buster. A sure fire internet hit. (accredited by Loong)smile.png

Regards.

Basically just a sprinkling, just enough so that you can't see the concrete.
