Hi all,

friend of mine has called me (another farang). He is awaiting a money transfer from home, but the bank have cocked it up and its been delayed. He usually pays his landlord via the ATM on the 5th, but is still waiting for the transfer - so he called and asked me to talk to his landlord. However, my Thai is fair, but I am worried about making the situation worse. My Mrs is away, so was wondering if anyone could give me the following in Thai (similar semantics and polite). By the way, his landlord is nice and has not chased it, he just wants to be proactive:

Something along the lines of: "Due to a bank error the money transfer from the UK has been delayed this month - will pay the rent as soon as it comes"

Can give in Thai script - I can read it.

Cheers

I doubt my Thai's any better than yours, but I'd keep it simple, as in:

เนื่องจากความผิดของธนาคาร - Owing to a mistake at the bank

เขายังไม่ได้รับเงินโอน - he has not yet received the transfer payment

เข้าจะชำระเงินเช่าทันทีที่เงินมาแล้ว - he will pay the rent as soon as the money arrives.

"เนื่องจากเกิดความผิดพลาด ทำให้เดือนนี้ธนาคารโอนเงินจากอังกฤษมายังเมืองไทยล่าช้า ผม/ฉัน จะชำระค่าเช่าทันทีที่ได้รับเงิน ครับ/ค่ะ"

hope it's not too late for you, and hope this helps.

Peace!
