Just another super normal night in Chiang Mai, 4 a.m. style

I like the story. Has some familiar elements from my freshman year here. I am no expert on AIDS/HIV but I don't believe the stuff about the low possibility of catching same from non-anal intercourse with a woman. I never heard that before. I ran to get checked out a couple of times (clean, whew!) after some ill-advised liassons, followed by massive attack of regret/paranoia.

Bet you won't be going back to that place, hmmmm?

I've had this explained to me by a scientist actually doing research on the spread of hiv.

It got too graphic for this forum, but the short version is that if you always wear a condom and never receive (!) anal intercourse then the risk tumbles way down below all the other things and diseases that will end up killing you in Thailand.

For example, it makes little sense to freak out about the possibility of hiv, but then get on a motorbike at 4am after a night out. (As a man)

you guys are comedy. i'm sure the odds were small, and of course i was prepared (quadruple wrapped, lol). anyhow, i didn't know about the love hotels, and sometimes you don't think straight with a buzz and 3 a.m.ish. yea, i went back to that place, realized how easy it was there, and sometimes you need a challenge; so i left. i'm in my 30's, about 5 ft 10 and 160. when i'm in my 60's, and pushing 300 lbs, then this is the place for me!!! i do lose out to the kids in their 20's who enjoy dropping 2,000 baht on drinks. ah, no worries.

back to the mountain bike. so i rented it from this nice couple, paid only 500 baht a month, and absolutely rode it to death. i then find out this is NOT their bike.....it was a previous tenant and they are just making some extra cash. more comedy.

i might have implied this story was recent. it wasn't that recent, but it is true.

if you see a guy wearing a clownsuit with a wife beater top and shorts with socks to my knees.....that's me!!!

For many of us, 4:00 am is not night - 4 a.m. is morning. You know, coffee, breakfast cereal time. After morning coffee, you'll be able to tell better the katoey from the girls, the ugly from the beauties.

Count yourself lucky, a similar experience had me and a local nutcase female carted off to the police station after she beat the hell out of me for asking her to leave. Contrary to claims on TV, the police were very fair with me and after some explaining they let me go and locked her up for the night.

Well this one narrowly beats the best pizza or burger threads that normally dominate the CM Forum, Lets all tell our most embarrassing Chiang Mai story first one to get banned gets a pint of Chang down the Red Lion

I think everyone has similar stories. Things that I would -now, with experience- have done different:

* Would not try and get a semi-conscious person out the door in the middle of the night. She can sleep it off. And -heck- I probably need sleep too.

* Would not have left a semi-conscious girl in the care of a tuk tuk driver. Two of them, maybe, but not a single girl when nobody else knows the guy.

But anyway, that's easy to say. I've been there too, only difference is that I didn't invite her to my place but for some reason offered to drive her home. She then forgot where home was and passed out. So there you are. wink.png

Taking a girl (or someone you think is a girl) back to your room is never a good idea.

This is what short-time hotels are for, the rooms can be very posh (Love Boat 150bht), clean towels, sheets, shampoo, soap. Not to mention the mirrored walls and ceilings.

And if a problem happens, you just leave, girl is not YOUR problem.

It always amazes me how guys get into ridiculous predicaments because they are too daft to spend 150bht. for a 'love hotel' room.

+1

Never take someone back to your hotel room, apartment, or house. Never under any circumstances.

Fair enough as advice, but I really dislike the sleaziness of temporary accommodation.

Especially if the person you're with is just a person/friend, not someone on the job.

I can more easily see the point about your actual house, because you open yourself up to stalking, and the neighbors will gossip and it's often quite a drive and then you have to drive someone back, so I do get that.

Hotel room though... that's what hotel rooms are for, aren't they?

Another good option: her place.

Brilliant! I wish I thought of that; cutting them in half first would most certainly reduce the potential for any shenanigans.

Yes of course hotel rooms. I guess what I meant was "room" since it seems so many single men in Thailand live in one room literally (a concept which is beyond bizarre to me). But even in a hotel room make sure all valuables are locked in the safe.

It is obvious why you should never bring someone to your house or apartment. Besides what WTK stated is also the possibility of your home being robbed in the not too distant future.

Let's do some rough math. I didn't make it past the 11teenth grade......

10 years. 520 weeks. divided by 2. 260 new people. at 1,000 baht.

260,000 baht for 10 years.

or divorce after 2 years and lose 4 million baht. haha.

--------------------

to continue to make this thread "practical" (which is impossible), I will give more advice to the new foreigners in CM:

only go to the bar with limited funds, no passport, nothing of value, and never tell them where you live or what your real name is.....yes, love boat. then, if you like them, let them into your life. same as in other countries.

*if you tell them you know "puukao" you will get VIP service

Posted

For what it is worth, I know lots of men who have brought lots of professional ladies home in CM for lots of years with only a few very minor incidents. It is better to be safe than sorry, but no need to be paranoid.

my mate says he spends on women in a year what you quoted for me in ten, which is quite feasible as foxy lady is his preferred hunting ground, and 26 ladies in a year for me,i had 5 last week and im not bragging or complaining,im just happy im in thailand.love the place.

Love Boat, Movement, Adventure Hotel, all very upmarket establishments and the rooms are more expensively set up and decorated than most of the guys places who are living in sub 15k a month accommodation.

Their sheets and towels are invariably whiter and cleaner too.
