October 24, 201312 yr I have a sneaking suspicion that few of the richest 1% of US society (those with pretax income in excess of $420,000) are regular posters on TV. Have a watch of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPKKQnijnsM&feature=player_embedded PS this is not some socialist sob story, nor a case of "liberal leftists" on the rampage. It is designed to make one think.

October 25, 201312 yr Author Uncle George appears on the same page... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYZpWTvre9c&feature=player_detailpage Always been intrigued by the late George Carlin as he seems to take great pleasure in hitting targets both on the left and right. Is he seen just as a maverick who slated everyone and not always without reason?
October 25, 201312 yr Uncle George appears on the same page... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYZpWTvre9c&feature=player_detailpage I think Uncle George smoked too much dope, probably the same with the guys that produced the video. I fail to see how Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, or other Wall Street guys are impeding my progress or holding me back. Is the American Dream dead? I don't think so, it just got distorted and people forget it takes some effort.

I don't think so, it just got distorted and people forget it takes some effort. But is it still accessible to people if they put in the effort, regardless of where they start from? I believe it is harder under this administration due to the hundreds, if not thousands, of government regulations promulgated by them. Obamacare alone has over 200 new ones and the EPA, DOI, FDA, IRS and all those initial bureaucracies have added many more, with more of them coming out daily. The various states also have their own set of regulations that must be adhered to as well. My son started a business some 10-12 years ago on a wing and a prayer. He has a human resources company to assist smaller businesses with the management of their various taxes, both state and federal, payroll administration, group health insurance and all other HR related services. His business has grown from nothing to having a large staff providing his services to a multitude of companies, both small and large. The smallest company has three employees, the largest over 600. He has been very successful but it has taken many hours of hard work with the help of his lovely wife. A small business can still thrive but many states are not business friendly with their regulations and tax structures. One needs to be careful where they open and what service they offer but it can work. As the old shepherd said...The government just needs to get the flock out of the way.
October 27, 201312 yr In my day the American dream was have a good job that enabled the purchase of a house, 2 cars and maybe an rv and summer cabin with a wife two kids a dog and cat and two weeks vacation. IMO the goals have changed and home ownership is not as important. A well paying job has become a dream and keeping what you earn is another.
