Black and white clothing sales boosted during mourning season

BANGKOK, 28th October 2013 (NNT) – Black and white clothes have been selling briskly during the mourning period of the late Supreme Patriarch.

Markets surrounding Wat Bowonniwet, have been busy catering to buyers' extremely high demands for white and black clothes, as large numbers of Buddhists have been mourning the loss of His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch.

Clothing stalls have popped up on Kraisi Road in Bang Lamphu, near Wat Bowon, selling black and white t- and collared-shirts as well as black and white ladies dresses. Many customers have stocked up on black and white clothing to wear during the mourning period, which has been extended to 30 days.

According to sellers on Kraisi road, they have to order more black and white clothing to meet customers’ demands. Black clothing is more popular than white, as customers find them easier to keep clean. Clothes are selling at regular prices--lower than those selling in department stores-- in order to boost sales.
