Qatar's new airport opening soon ?

According to this article Hamad Airport in Doha should open soon.

I'm not holding my breath though.

Just transited Abu Dhabi for the first time. What a horrible airport.

Just happened to come back on QR and was sitting next to a gentlemen who is directly involved in security systems of the new airport. He said that the regulations/laws in that field are being changed so often that he would not give a prediction.

I note in the article they are very non-specific. 'Soon', could be next week, next month or next year.

I'll be transiting Doha in January - it would be nice if it's open, but I have my doubts.

Jordan is pretty bad too. Stick with transits in Dubai if possible.

I'm just back from a job in Qatar. The airport is a mess due to the ongoing construction. Long, long bus rides to switch between terminals and the new airport seems to need a year more, or what ever they think what is "soon". Parking and traffic arround the new and old airport is a mess as well...

Seeb Airport is small, very clean easy to navigate and above all friendly staff which is a rarity in the other Gulf states.

Don't know about London, but for my usual destinations i.e. Paris CDG or Frankfurt it's 2 to 3 hours
