BANGKOK, Nov 7 – Enforcement of the Internal Security Act (ISA) will not be widened despite the government’s concerns on the widespread protests against the amnesty bill, Thailand’s security chief said today.

Four schools in rally area closed Friday

BANGKOK: -- The directors of the four schools on Rajdamnone Road near demonstration sites announced that their schools will be closed Friday.

The four schools are Sattree Witthaya School, Wat Borwornniwes School, Rajwinit Primary School and Makut Kasat School.

The directors said the closure of roads in the area by police would make it inconvenient for parents to send their children to school.

The directors said the school management would monitor the situation and decide whether to close the school again on Monday.

Protesters on Rajdamneon Road

BANGKOK: -- A large number of anti-bill protesters are still seen on Rajdamneon Avenue on Thursday, despite the unusual rain.

Attracting them was the speech of Democrat secretary general Suthep Thaugsuban.

To the audience, Suthep said that he does not believe that the government would end the push for the amnesty bill. He said that after Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra was on TV, pleading all to believe her and stop the protests.

"If people believed that the government has retreated, there would have been a small number of protesters now," he said.

Use of balloons during Loy Krathong will be regulated

King visits Chang Hua Mun project

His Majesty the King on Thursday visited the Chang Hua Mun royally-sponsored project in Tha Yang district of Petchaburi.

The King spent about three hours at the project site located in Tambon Khao Krapook to observe development of the project and various plants grown there.

The project covers an area of 250 rai bought with the personal fund of HM the King. The area was arid, dry and infertile the time it was bought and then developed into a model agricultural farmland.
