3G

Featured Replies

hi everybody. who is the best provider for 3G in northern Thailand, Phrae and area around.

Thanks in advance Lungpeter

It really depends on the exact location. In the Amphur Muang (City of Phrae), DTAC and TrueMove H work fine. In the smaller districts TrueMove H is probably a better solution. I spend some time in Long, and TrueMove H is fine, but as you are no doubt aware, it is fairly hilly there so I've seen a lot of dead spots, except if you are on AIS (GSM900, no 3G in those remote-ish areas).

I always suggest talking to neighbors to see what they are using - I guarantee they'll know better than anyone here.

CAT (my 3G) is everywhere, I mean <deleted>' everywhere. I'm writing you from the damn sticks of Isaan and I've ridden my motorbike all over this godforsaken country and it is everywhere, I mean <deleted>' everywhere. Good speeds to be had all around.

No. Handsets have the stupid function cellID So, if your nice cellphone company is telling you 4G, and you get 360kB/s transfer.....That does not match 4G speeds.Fake. But what do i know,i only build systems like that.

Just as an FYI, TrueMove H is a reseller of CAT's 850 MHz 3G, so while CAT may now have 14,000 base-stations, and TrueMove H resells their 3G service on at least 11,000 of those. It may be easier to deal with TrueMove H than CAT, in that TrueMove H offers quite a few pre-paid SIMs/plans/promotions which are widely available.

TOT also have3G/2100 MHz deployed in/around Phrae.

AIS/2100 MHz 3G coverage is also expanded throughout Phrae.

Again, talk with neighbors. I might try TrueMove H and AIS/2100 MHz SIMs to experiment.
