DogNo1
After a fresh install of Win 8.1, including IE 11, I couldn't get some web pages to load so after considerable tinkering, I gave up and switched to Chrome in which everything works well, including Gmail. I also had hours of grief with Outlook 2013 and consulted Technet to find that everyone had trouble importing their contacts, so I've switched to Google. Everything just works - Chrome, Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets,Google Search. Microsoft seems to be dropping the ball on their consumer software. So many of their new programs are cantankerous and difficult to use. Word 2013 wouldn't let me open my own documents that I had created with Word 2007! What a mess. Are other TVers having similar problems?

Are other TVers having similar problems? Personally I NEVER install anything brand new on a "production" or daily use computer! Leave it until it's matured a little, the bugs identified and (usually) the first Service Pack is out! And in case you're wondering - I'm a professional software tester - NOT, I hasten to add, for Microsoft!

Weird thing is that you can't reinstall it on Windows 7 - all you can do is disable it. Another Microsoft wonder!

Pib
I have a 7 year old Toshbia laptop running Win 7 32 bit...upgraded from IE10 to IE11 about an hour ago...took about 5 minutes to download/install/reboot (I have a 15Mb connection)....pretty painless. It didn't' change any of my browser toolbars or anything that I can see. Have went to various websites I frequently visit to include most of my ibanking websites and logged on to my accounts OK with the exception of the Bangkok Bank ibanking site. When initially going to the Bangkok Bank "ibanking site/logon" using IE11 the site comes up with a screen saying "We are sorry but the service is currently unavailable. Please try your request later......" I can reach/surf the Bangkok Bank public website no problem, but IE11 and the Bangkok Bank ibanking logon page/site just didn't agree with each other as I get above mentioned error message. However, I could logon using Chrome no problem. HOWEVER, BUT, I solved the IE11 logon problem by setting it to Compatibility View for the Bangkok Bank web site...then I could logon no problem with IE11. Can't remember if IE10 had this issue, because when IE11 installed it removed previous Compatibility View sites I had set...now Bangkok Bank is the only website set for Compatibility View. Yeap, a pretty painless and easy upgrade, but I expect I will find some tweaking I will need to do like for some websites which may require the Compatibility View setting. Need to do more browsing to see if I find any other surprises...like maybe another site that will require the Compatibility View setting to work properly/fully...seems a person always runs into a few of those sites (or just parts of a site) regardless of browser used. Just found another issue which I haven't been able to solve yet. When in the ThaiVisa editor and I click the Link icon to add a link to a website a different/more detailed Link window pops up for me to enter the link. I can enter the link into the pop window, but the OK and Cancel button to complete the linking process are greyed out. In fact, I can't even close the pop window without completely backing out of the post and loosing what I wrote. Have already tried compatibility view and that didn't help. Then tried Chrome and adding a Link works as normal/before. Any other IE11 users having this Linking problem using the ThaiVisa editor and IE11? DogNo1
VBF: I've always plunged into new software even though I'm not a professional. I've often been able to solve problems by using experts exchange and technet and just wait out the bug fixes and service packs. I was an early adopter oh Windows 1.0, jumping over from Quarterdeck which was a much better multi-tasker. In those days, MS Tech Support would literally spend hours with you on the phone and even keep a file on your problems. I loved Microsoft back in those days and still like the company but we are dealing with a different generation of developers who may not have much continuity with the developers of my age. Oh how the field has advanced! I love it. What kinds of software do you test, by the way? Is your education in computer science? KittenKong
If you buy a PC in Thailand with any software installed you can reasonably assume that it is pirated. If the software is "ultimate" or "pro" or any other superlative the likelihood of piracy approaches 100%.

My 8.1 upgrade also took a lot of tinkering with, to get everything usable. Pain pain pain! Interesting what you've said about Chrome - was never a fan. Tried it when it first appeared - hated it, and haven't tried any of the subsequent releases. Is it really that good now? Should I bite the bullet and learn all it's secrets?
