Trump’s great peace deal with Iran, which he claims will be achieved any day now, actually achieves nothing. He was hoping it would be signed today on his 80th birthday, but of course the Iranians would never grant him that luxury. Meanwhile, it isn’t a real deal, even if it does get signed soon. It is really just an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which would never have been closed to begin with if he weren’t such a raving old fool. That’s all the US is getting from it. No enriched uranium deal, no promises from Iran to stop funding proxies or proxy wars, no agreement on nukes, no agreement to stop ballistic missile production, just reopening the Strait, and Trump will happily pay them $20 to $30 billion for it. When Obama made the nuclear deal with Iran, it actually achieved something, but Obama also paid them about $1.5 billion for it, and everybody was really upset. In Trump’s case, he has achieved absolutely nothing and is simply handing over $30 billion to Iran to restore the situation to what it was before the US began bombing Iran. Trump has zero leverage now and is looking extremely weak and desperate. The great dealmaker!
