Thai PM asks for restraint after Preah Vihear temple judgement

BANGKOK, Nov 15 – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has called on the Thai people to be extra cautious in criticising the World Court verdict on the Preah Vihear temple dispute.

She said the opposition’s attempt to play up the temple judgement as a political issue would make it more difficult for the government to work on it and could affect Thailand’s relationship with neighbouring Cambodia.

Ms Yingluck said she has yet to personally talk with her Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) handed down its verdict on the Preah Vihear temple case on Monday.

The government is translating the ICJ’s verdict to be distributed to the Thai public, she said.

“To avoid confusion, please listen to the government’s clarification. A technical committee will be set up to study the ICJ’s verdict and explain it to the public,” she said. (MCOT online news)

I really wish the Democrats would leave this alone now..they asked for the ruling, it's been delivered...accept it.

YS and her merry band of thieves tried to tell the public that we won this case (hoping to quell protestors and invigorate red skirts). The democrats noted that we did not win the case, that, in fact, Cambodia won land and therefore won the case. Now YS is caught in a lie and is trying to get everyone to accept the lie as the truth. Poor YS.

So far so good!thumbsup.gif But who is going to explain it to Yingluck?

Her reason for not meeting with Hun Sen yet, is probably that she still mae kowjai!!coffee1.gif

What are the Dems doing that you find so offensive?

As far as I can see they have just asked for the government to follow the rules and be transparent to the people.

Most Thais have read the official ICJ verdict in Thai and accept that Thailand lost. It happens and the result was hardly unexpected, even the protestors knew it.

Yingluck shouldn't fret. No doubt Hun Sen and Thaksin have discussed the subject in detail already and she will be advised of the Cambodian premier's views on a need to know basis when necessary.

The absolute last thing I would do to avoid confusion about anything would be to expect clarification from this government.

ummm you are a little confused or short of memory here.

It was Yingluck who said before the ruling she would not accept it. Abhist is just joining her. Or was there a call from Dubai telling her to change her mind.

the whole thing is ridicules any how.10_1_136.gif
