WesternUnion with Id Card

You should never give passport for renting motorbike - there are plenty places that will take copy at same price - you only have yourself to blame IMO

Yes i know but many place for rent motorbike, want only passport not copy

Then go elsewhere!! There are literally thousands of motor bike rental shops, most of which will be happy with a copy of your Passport. You might find that the shop has a change of tune if you go back at the end of the current rental period and politely advise him you are no longer able to rent his bike because your Embassy has advised you that it is illegal for him to hold your Passport. Say you are happy for him to have photocopy and to continue renting, otherwise, sorry, you have to go elsewhere. You might find he changes his mind, but do be polite about it.wai2.gif

That's why Western Union or bank are strict nowadays because of so many scam.

For Western Union, your Thai ID card should be enough, if you are Thai. Although I assume you do have the correct full name of the sender, the exact amount you are trying to collect and the country the money was sent from? If you have all these, there should not be a problem collecting the money. If there is, go to a different agent or bank.

AFAIK, you will 100% need your passport (and possibly proof of address) to comply with anti money-laundering laws.

The sending party isn't responsible for verifying your ID, but the receiving bank/institution most definitely is.

So it's nothing personal.

They just want ot v

If you're going to to do cross-continent transfers even between your own accounts, you'd be well advised to call paypal or whoever you use,

before you make the transaction. I'd email before calling as well, so they can see you're physically in another jurisdiction.

Have you ever tried calling paypal - there a joke and last time I called from Thailand, I had to call Singapore. I would find another way personally

Not sure why people say you need a passport for WU collections, My wife has collected many times with only her ID card and has had no problems

Terak get off your high horse and stop being so patronizing. It's not helping him by telling him how stupid he is because the rental companies bully people into handing over passports before they give the bike.
