Experiences with Mitsubishi

Featured Replies

Hey,

I am interested in the Mitsubishi Attrage.

But i wonder about the quality and reliability of Mitsubishi.

I hear everyone saying that Toyota and Honda make good quality reliable cars, but what about Mitsubishi?

Any experiences with this brand?

Thanks

Mitsubishi also builds quality and reliable vehicles, especially their LOS pick up and SUV models and the 3 car models our family have owned.

I honestly don't know why anyone would consider a Mitsubishi Attrage when the Nissan March and Suzuki Swift are available. Based more on looks than Mitsubishi's caviller attitude to service.

Plus, from my experience with spare parts in Pattaya, a general disinterest in actually taking orders.....and lack of desire to quote on parts in the first place.

The new Toyota Yaris should be considered,IMO wink.png

I have a silver Mirage. Nice car, decent quality generally BUT there may be an issue with the paint being a bit thin.. washed it the other day and found some chips on top of the bonnet/*hood. Not just surface but looks all way through and had some scratches on the roof. This may be limited to the silver cars not sure it's going in for a valet before it's 20k service then see what Mitsubishi have to say.

I like the car, it's roomy and the engine is peppy.

Ohh the seats a crap if your a bit larger.. but they may have changed them on the attrage. Try and take it for a decent test drive.

I also liked the styling of the Swift but it actually feels smaller inside than the Mirage.. especially in the back and the boot/*trunk on the swift is a joke.

I was thinking about the Mirage at first, but then thought the bigger one may be more comfortable and safer.

Hows the fuel consumption with the Mirage? I still haven't ruled it out yet.

Try the new Mitsu dealer out near the Ambassador. For me in Jomtien it's much easier to get to than the old two dealers at the Banglamung end of town. Brand new buildings and very polite and helpful staff.

I was there today for a free warranty repair (they are not the dealer I bought from) and will be going there for my servicing in future.

I haven't heard any reports of major or recurring problems with the Mirage or Attrage.

Fuel consumption of both the Mitsu's is 22KM/L based on EU test cycle, making them 10% better than the nearest competition.

The Attrage is quieter on the move than the Mirage, due to rear tire noise being isolated from the cabin, it also has a slightly more compliant ride than the hatchback version.

As others have noted, the Yaris eco car has now also been launched, and should be considered of you're open to the idea of a hatchback. Overall, I'm not sure if it actually has a space advantage over the Attrage sedan, and it's not as fuel efficient or spirited to drive, nor does it have the level of gizmos per Baht of the Mitsus. But it is a Toyota, which means a dealership every few KM's if it breaks down (Mitsu's network is also quite large now though), and assumedly better resale value based on brand cache alone (so long as it doesn't turn out to have major issues - which is unlikely).

That said, in this current market, resale values are all going down. If that's your concern, buy the cheapest variant you can live with.. Lower grades always lose less %-wise than higher grades.

Very informative comparisons! thumbsup.gif

... reminds me of someone else who had a capital 'O' in their moniker! whistling.giflaugh.png

Friend of wife has the Attrage, it really does get the 22k/l which surprised me, I got a lift with them to Bangkok a while back, 100 - 110 all the way, 21.5km/l when refueled in Bkk and the on board computer gave a similar result.

That impressed me, plus heaps of leg room in the back which also surprised me,

Suspension is a bit harsh, you could read braille if it drove of a braille book,

It is "tinny" but then all those cars are,

He had the base model, a manual shift, but far more zippy getting around than I thought it would be,

When petrol is your most expensive consumable in a car, it's really worth getting one that does amazing milage,

I am told in the city he doesn't get the 22km/l obviously,

Some very informative comparisons! Thanks guys!smile.png

Still not sure facepalm.gif

I have also been seriously considering the Nissan Almera. Only about 50k more than the Mitsubishi Attrage. It seems like a sturdier vehicle and apparently more spacious (although some claim that is because the seats are smaller)

But it doesn't have ABS (in the manual gear edition) and some guys on the Nissan thread are staying it sometimes goes into a skid when braking (very disconcerting for the wife n kid).

I just can't see why i would pay 50k more for it.

I think the Attrage may still win it.

I hear ya' .... unlike back home where it always came down to which vehicle came with the 'most' options and specs that appealed to the buyer, in this car market, it seems to really come down to which vehicle has the least number of negatives! facepalm.gif

Have you made a decision yet?

I just bought the Attrage (manual gears).

Red colour (much to my GF's distaste and everyone's amusement....even the showroom staff laughed at me! cheesy.gif )

Congratulations on your new car! intheclub.gif.pagespeed.ce.TVIbELwsxN.gi

I bet it looks good in Red.

Can you communicate to us about why your wife distaste it and about the amusement towards you over your choice of the color Red for your new Attrage? Is there some underlying Thai cultural thing?

Ace has a theory that red cars are a synonym for people who are gay..

OP: Just tell everyone your fortune teller told you that you *had* to have a red car, 'nuff said. :)

Apparently Thais don't like red cars. The showroom people said only one customer out of hundreds ask for red.

I find Thais weird with car colours. They have certain colours which are popular each year. In case anyone hasn't noticed, this year it is white. I believe last year black, and the year before grey. I have a student who works for Toyota and she told me all about this.

Where i came from, people follow the crowd on some things, but not on car colours. At least not on such a huge scale. Right now there are at least 30 white cars in my car park. The car park only hold about 40 cars, haha. Its crazy, i my opinion.
