PATTAYA: -- A small object, which appeared to resemble a hand grenade was found on a remote street in the East Pattaya area late on Friday Night.

Khun Tara aged 50 is a Municipal Security Officer who was on his way home after attending a party when he stumbled upon the item on the street. A car tire was placed over the object in case it detonated and Banglamung Police were called-in to deal with the incident.

Upon his arrival, Police Lieutenant Noppadol, took it upon himself to declare the item a fake device and instead of following protocol and calling the Navy Bomb Disposal Unit...

I'm pretty sure they weren't asking you to identify it, why would they? There is no presumption of it being an explosive device now.

Shouldn't this headline read "Non-Explosive Device" ?

The key words seem to be "after attending a party" and "stumbled upon" ....

I'm pretty sure they weren't asking you to identify it, why would they? There is no presumption of it being an explosive device now.

They brought it round to my house later and asked me what it was.

I told them it was a wheel hub cover from a 1936 Morgan.

You guys in Patts better be careful. Patts is a huge terrorist target. Think about it.

It's well known terrorists do dry runs before performing a real attack. This COULD be a dud used to verify and check the response times of local agencies.

Or it could be garbage.
