New Auto Audio Shop Going Too Far.

There is a new shop opened up down the road that specializes in these auto boom box setups for these idiot pickup drivers you see cruising around the streets with music blaring from speakers placed in the back so everyone can here it for hundreds of meters. Thinking they are looking sooooo cool to everyone, without realising that most people are thinking 'Dickheads'. I am sure you know who I mean.

I am not sure if the shop is constantly testing the systems or what. But the noise that comes from that place can be felt in your chest!

Anyway. Over the past few days they have been cranking up the volumes and the noise is just way over the top and not necessary. This is a residential area <deleted>, and they do it till quite late.

I feel sorry for the little restaurants within yards of the building. I think they will all go bust very soon, I know one restaurant bar owner who is very frustrated already. But to give you an idea of how far these idiots go. I live about 500M from the place and when they crank up, I can not even hear my TV even if it is turned up. The windows shake and at the moment I have a large industrial food mixing machine in my house with a stainless steel drum that is 1 M diameter and about 1.5 M deep and the noise it makes with resonation is unbelievable.

If that is the effect it has on my house at 500M away and with 2 streets of houses between us, I would hate to be living in the direct area with nothing in between.

Now I can usually take a lot before I start to get pissed off, but I am finding I have a short limit with this kind of noise. I swear I am not exaggerating. I used to go to raves when I was younger so I know noise, but this is far louder.

Obviously I won't move and why should I? I was here first and I love my home, I have spent 5 years doing up my dream house, I am going nowhere.. I suspect (hope) the Thais will drive them away or tell them to stop it, but for the few days they have been here, sounds like nobody has complained.

If it continues, what can I do about it if anything? The police??

I am not frightened of them, I don't believe all this rubbish about, they will kill me if I try to stop them, not many people are murderers. So no scare replies because I don't scare. But at the same time, I would like to possibly resolve this without having a confrontation.

Maybe a little visit in the night with a can of petrol.

I would try to be reasonable first up then either do the heavy stuff yourself of get a few locals together and sort the bastards out, I live near the local lake area (one street away) and at the moment my windows are rattling from these idiots(thump, thump, thump) in the mobile disco and it will continue through till late tonight. I cant do anything because there are about 5 car loads of the idiots all half full of piss but I am after a decent size shangeye/slingshot that will be loaded with marbles or similar and used on the car windows. I figure that they will have no idea where it comes from and will get the hint, the locals that live right next to the car park do nothing but they are mostly old so maybe they are scared of them. These idiots simply have no regard for anyone else and the thais will not do anything about it, even the police(just down the road) will not stop it. Hopefully when a few car windows are shattered they will get the hint.......

Call local council, puu yai (have a Thai do it) or band together with said restaurateurs. Don't confront them yourself as face will be lost and so will you. It's not a question of being a hard-nut or not scared if you went it alone... I'd personally prefer to nut them, but...

Curiously there are laws everywhere about 'broadcasting' for which you need a license. They may not intend to be doing this, but that's what's happening. Get some Thai neighbours on side and go to the Amphur office - with a small white envelope. I would be generous 1,000 baht would probably work. Your nearest small police station might also be worth a try - with envelope. But violence - bad idea.
