Muhendis
Thaksin knows if he comes back to face the music with no amnesty then his other cases will be tried and he may never see life outside of a jail cell again.... Yes I tend to agree. It seems such a shame that such a charismatic character (Mr. T) should have such a misdirected sense of right. What a huge bonus he could have been for Thailand had he been less Chinese. Some people consider that the Shinawatra clan are arrogant of the Thai people (http://asiapacific.anu.edu.au/newmandala/2011/08/08/the-shinawatra-family-tree/). If that is true then it is not a huge leap of faith to consider that the "clan" is using the Thai people for their own gain.
oldsailor35
Thus so far the PTP have avoided the most obvious ,that would put out the flames that they have created, the return of Thaskin to face the original charges plus the absconding from Thailand on Bail , the continuance of the UN investigation into human rights abuse under Thaskin, the further investigations into corruption and fraud whilst Thaskin was Prime MInister , plus the supporters of both Democrats , PTP and minor parties, who face criminal charges to face the music, if you do the crime you do the time , end of story , no Amnesty. Does that go for the terrorists who hi jacked the airport also .

He and Suthep could be cell mates. I wonder who would be get to be on top … (bunk) Whoever gets that position, you can guarantee that Suthep will be blabbing his mouth off all through the process. lungmi
Marcos is out, Belusconi too, Mugabe won the last elections in Thaksin style. Too many guns (included "old friends" revenge) wait for Thaksin in Thailand. His Thai restaurant in Montenegro is a good place for him (no homesick). hellodolly
In his special interview with BBC, Chaturon said the Pheu Thai would have to find a way to balance Thaksin's influence over the Cabinet. Amazing, he still doesn't get it, convicted criminals, on the run from justice, should not have ANY influence over the Cabinet. The education minister seems to have a learning disability. You beat me to it but I felt it needed to be said again. It is sooooooooooooooo rite on.
Benmart
the balance: 30% of the money for Thaksin 30 % for the PTP 40 % for the Thai people I am curious. Can you share the source or is this conjecture?
Popular Post Dogmatix
'But Chaturon said Yingluck "is trying to work very hard to show independence from her brother".' The Amnesty Bill was a great example of that.
samitivej
His position as cabinet minister will only be temporary anyway, was he not given the position in the last reshuffle? Should PT survive there will in all probability be another reshuffle in a couple of months and someone else who is the 'best man for the job' will move in. It was reported about a month back that Noppodan, Thaksins mouthpiece sat it was natural to have cabinet changes about every 6 months. Yes, he is a recent appointee. First thing he had to wait on was his banning from politics for electoral fraud to pass by. Tragically laughable, he's the the 5th Education Minister in 2 years so they are a bit ahead of Noppadope's timeframe.
