They're bracing. These Thais, they sure know how to brace. They've been covering up, bracing, and sidestepping core issues for decades. They'll keep bracing.

Lost contact with my friend in BKK now. Seems both his TRUE 3G and CAT line is down.

The democrat party only won one election and that was about 15 years ago when Mr. cuwan leepai was PM. Since then they have not and now are using any and all means that may be illegal to get into power again.

WHY?! They should be going for newspapers, TV stations - if they control the media, they control the people.

Protesters are demanding the end of the "Thaksin regime" and want to replace the government with an unelected "people's council".

So the "ten thousand or so" protestors will decide among themselves as to exactly WHO will be on the UNELECTED "people's council"....bunch of THUGS who have zero respect for the FACT that millions of voters have spoken loud and clear.

Hate Taksin all you want but if you want to replace his sister then run your candidates in the elections and let the people decide. Otherwise this idiotic cycle of elections followed by demonstrations and coups will never end.

It would be nice if it was as simple as having an election, the trouble is there is always massive vote buying so in reality the results are a complete joke. Sadly I seen no sign of any light appearing at the end of this particular tunnel. The Thai people desperately need an honest alternative to the Dems or Thaksin and his bunch of thieves. It's clear the majority of Thai's want to see the end to the power of the old elites and will not vote democrat, however, the only alternative is a megalomaniac.

Vote buying is apparently not restricted to just one side....and even with vote buying an election is still preferable to allowing a bunch of disgruntled demonstrators to overthrow a government and replace it with one of THEIR choosing. Even if there was zero vote buying what is to stop future demonstrators/thugs from deciding that they don't like the results and DEMAND the election results be thrown in the garbage and they in their "infinite wisdom" get to pick a new leader without an election of any kind?

For all the slings thrown at the red shirts demonstrations there seem to be just plenty of BS from the other side from occupying airports to now doing STUPID marches on the US Embassy, TOT, CAT etc...what's next a march on 7/11 headquarters or perhaps the New Zealand embassy?

My internet and websites that are hosted at the CAT datacenter are down.

What kind of joke is this? Shouldn't the protesters want the internet to aide in their campaign. It should be the government that resorts to cutting the internet as seen in Egypt etc.

I agree 100 percent......A true uprising by the people would be using social media via the internet to exchange information

about current situations. It is only in the interest of the government to in essence " blind" protesters by shutting down

the internet... Now with this silly choice of a protest site, the government can simply flip off the internet switch, and then

claim on television that the protesters had done this.....
