MOBILE PHONE
NBTC to test signals at protest areas
The Nation:

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission is sending mobile trucks to protest areas.

In a statement, the commission said that this is to test the quality mobile phone signals and operators can be notified promptly in case of any disruption.

Thakorn Tanthasit, the NBTC Office secretary general, said that signal quality can be properly checked in areas where a large number of mobile users gather.

"The trucks are to test the signal, not to cut off the signal in the areas," he said.

Earlier, mobile phone operators were told to increase capacity in protest areas, to cope with the rising voice and data transmission.

Flight to Johannesburg was cancelled a month ago: THAI
The Nation

Thai Airways International clarified Sunday that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra cancelled her visit to South Africa about a month ago.

In LINE message, the airline said that a Thai delegation was planned in June on the invitation from South Africa. However, in October, South Africa suggested the visit be postponed due to local elections and the tickets, originally booked for the December 1 travelling, was accordingly cancelled.

Earlier today, a protest leader, Sathit Wongnongtoey, told protesters that Yingluck booked herself a flight to Johannesberg, South Africa, apparently to flee the country. The message was tweeted and retweeted widely, amid spawning protests against the government in Bangkok.

Before noon, the prime minister was seen at a police compound on Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road, where she had a meeting with senior police officials.

The rumour prompted her secretary, Suranand Vejjajiva, to insist in his Tweet that the prime minister remained in Thailand.
