Each club has two byes this year, with the byes spread over six weekends.

What is Demetriou on about here saying each club has 2 byes this year? The fixtures schedule I have only show Rounds 8, 9, and 10 having byes. The Grand Final is still on the last weekend in Sept, as usual.

I dont think there is an official bye round, but around late July you will notice that your club doesn't play for one week, having their bye

Ah? Are off your meds as well as Demetriou, The OFFICIAL bye rounds have been completed where 6 games were played in Round 8, 9, and 10. Every team had a bye during that period. There aren't any more in July?? - Look again at the link you posted.

Easy there tiger...

The first round was spread out over 2 weeks, thus a "bye".

Rounds 8, 9 & 10 was also a "bye" round essentially as there were 6 teams that did not play in each "round"

As for khun BM typing July, I would dared say that it was a typo...

There is a difference between a Bye and a SPLIT round. All teams played Round 1, over an extended period. It was not a bye round.

To the technically correct crowd yes there is, but to the everyday punter a split round by any other name is a bye...

Splitting hairs over such trivial matters...

There is in fact 2 byes.

Khun BookMan is correct (as usual).

No need to apologizebiggrin.png

The second byes are over round 18.

There are 5 games from 18 July to 20 and then

4 games from Fri 25 to Sun 27 July. So over that

2 week period, each side only plays once.

Don't thank me, you'll only embarrass metongue.png

Oh dear Khun Will27, I'm afraid you'll go and only further confuse the dear boy by throwing that little quandary into the mix...

;)

Precisely KhunWill.

I presume Demetriou was referring to this split round, which is simply a bye round if your team does not play one week.

EDIT: The difference with the bye round is the bye round is 6 games and each week the round is considered as 'complete with only 6 games (rounds 8,9,10)

The Split round is considered 'one round' and played over two weeks, hoever, the game is effectively still a bye

So now it's 3 sets of byes. I give in! I'll stick to the 'dear boy' - Split round definition. You guys can figure it for your selves then explain it to Demetriou as he will be well and truly be confused now!

These are my early week tips

Geelong

Hawks

Port

bulldogs

Essendon

Swans

Freo

North

Collingwood

Ones i might change are:

North (Richmond)

Essendon

Collingwood

I love your term

early week tips

Your tips are the same as mine

At this stage

Yep, same as mine as well, even the changeable ones.

I keep expecting Richmond to play a real good one soon

but have come to the conclusion that they just aren't good enough.

North are expected to win which makes me worry.

If all of the tips are the same, it will come down to the margin I guess.

The Sydney V Gold Coast game is the only Top 8 v Top 8 game this week

ok, are there any members in Melbourne during the next few weeks that want 2 free passes to the following games, they are general admission and have to be scanned in at the MCG, gates 6 or 7. They are being given to me as a membership gift and I need to download then so I can do this then email them to whoever wants them. These are the games:

Round 12 - Demons v Pies

Round 13 - Blues v Hawks, Tigers v Dockers, Bombers v Demons.

Round 14 - Tigers v Swans, Hawks V Pies, Demons v Roos.

Both tickets must be used at the one game, first one to message me gets them. Sorry chooka, no saints games.

Very generous seajae..

Not in Melbourne myself

Posted

mate, I cant use them here so if we have any members that can it only makes sense to give them away or not use them at all, strange thing is my team is not one of the ones they are giving away, go figure.

Well guys

Nearly that time again.

Some questions to be pondered......

Can kooweerup continue his great run of form of late?

Can Mr Smith go back to back and win the round again?

Will chooka have a last minute epiphany (again) and pick the Saints?

Can seajae, BookMan and ripstanley make up any ground to the number 1 position?

Will the leader, (I forget his name but he's the good looking one), forge ahead, drop

behind or maintain his lead?

All of these questions and more will be answered by Monday afternoon.

Good luck fella's.

It's the type of round we could be seeing status quo maintained

Yep

Unless someone is prepared to risk falling behind to get ahead, I think

it might remain the same.

The round might be won by having the closest margin.

Edit: BookMan, are you taking your lady to the GC/Syd game?

bloody hell, this is the hardest season to pick a winner for a while, every teams form is going all over the place. Somehow I think there are still several changes to go before the end of the season and I have no idea who will come out on top as yet, maybe when the teams start to play to their abilities more regularly we will have a better idea, will be an interesting time till the finals I think.

By the way, probably too late to get the round 12 game tickets now so the other two rounds are open till the day before the games are played.

na definitely not tipping the saints this week, the Gold Coast / Sydney game has me thinking and I have tipped the G/C at the moment and also thinking about GWS at home over the bombers in a close one.

There seems to be a bit of a log jam between 2nd and 8th and someone has to do the honourable thing and take a couple of roughies.

I just can't see GC winning this week. They have probably their strongest team on the paddock for this match, but so do Sydney

IMO, it would be crazy to pick against Sydney at this point in time.

My roughie for the week is WCE to beat Hawthorn. The coach came

out with some home truths this week and I think Hawthorn are just going.

Just because they're my roughie, doesn't mean I'm going to pick them thoughbiggrin.png

Yep, Kennedy is the main one although the ways he's been going, he

won't be a huge loss. Hawks have lost Hale so we should have an advantage

in the ruck. Again, it will be if our midfield can at least be competitive.
