Abhisit to lead protest march from Silom road

BANGKOK: -- Former Democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva will lead a group of protesters from Silom business district for a march to the Government House on Monday morning.

His group is one out of some 50 groups of protesters taking part in the historic march to lay siege to the Government House scheduled to start at 9.39 a.m. The two biggest groups will be from Chaengwattana’s government complex to be led by protest leader Suthep Thuagsuban and from Ratchadamnoen Avenue.

Former Democrat MP Sathit Wongnongtoey told the protesters at the Democracy Monument that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s invitation to foreign diplomats for a meeting at the Government House at about 9 a.m. on Monday amounted to a challenge against the protesters.

He said that some protesters would be in front of the Government House before the meeting.

Meanwhile, Pol Gen Worapong Chiewpreecha, the deputy national police chief, said that police would provide convenience to the protesters who would be allowed to protest outside the Government House.

No protesters will be allowed to enter the Government House unless the protesters state clearly their objective, he said, adding that he hopes there is no untoward incident from the protesters.

a former PM and leader of parliamentary opposition now a street punk. How low he can fall? Molotovs, manning street barricades, arguing with cops?

Maybe he should hide in a penthouse in Dubai and pay others to do it for him

The alternative to be returning to Thailand under the present circumstances having been forcibly removed in his absence?

Don't ask another to do what you wouldn't do.

Well it is nice to see all the pro red/Thaskin farangs finally making a showing.

What boggles the mind is that all you supporters of the corrupt come from real democracy's that would have put

the PTP to bed a long time ago. So could it be that you all are dabbing in heartless heart of no morality?

Can we please bring back General Prem Tinsulanonda, just prop him up in a chair, blow off the cobwebs, dust him down, a bit of lick and polish. Play some old Jazz music on all tv and radio stations, broken only by some army broadcast to stay calm.

Can we please get the Thai people to forget about "playing" politics, please, its not going to work.

Please just let the experts run the country, it worked before it'll work again.

"Former Democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva"

did he resign or his party already disbanded?

a former PM and leader of parliamentary opposition now a street punk. How low he can fall? Molotovs, manning street barricades, arguing with cops?

And on a BBC interview few days ago, he said; "we want this government to give the power back to the people". He lost it....... And he should carefully balance the words of his King and spent his time more useful.

General Prem is not a solution for Thai diversion. In Korea he lost both ba... in a grenade explosion. He and Thaksin will never get along.

PTP definition of democracy is "is when we win an election we can do whatever we want or what he tells us to do by message" And to all you who think its just 20,000-30,000 involved in this take a look at the numbers today in Bangkok ,plus all those who cant get to the protest. Dont you red thugs just hate it?

I am puzzled.

Mr. Abhisit is the former leader of the Democrat Party.

Mr. Suthep has been the leader of the protesters.

Is Mr. Suthep doing the protest in behalf of Mr. Abhisit (because Abhisit was not seen all the time in the protest) or he is working hard for his own plan?

Just in case (but seems not) Yingluck will step down, who will seat for the highest position in the People's Council government? Suthep or Abhisit?

the mob out in force here on Silom - a very early start too - hopefully they will f@# off soon so the rest of us can get some work done! People's Committee - what a crock! Accept the result of the last election and do what political parties are supposed to do. Re-group - develop a policy platform and work out a way you can change the lives of ordinary people - and then they might vote for you. The Democart Party. What a misnoma!

Spot on. Another key element to move forward are elections monitored from outside of Thailand and the International community is ready, willing, and able. Even the current PM was willing to allow it the last election but cries from the right shouted "We are Thailand. We don't need you to watch us."

The second area, even more difficult to achieve here, is financial transparency in Thai politics. That is, who is backing who based on "follow the money". This would put to rest (and put the hornet's nests on both sides under a much-needed microscope) the overly-used and disengenous claim by the right of vote buying.

Historically speaking, Thailand is farther along in acheiving real Democracy than many developing nations around the world; our relatively open dialoge right here on ThaiVisa forums attest to this.

True Democracy in Thailand is not an "if" but a "when." And that, no doubt, is what scares the heck out of many in the nation.

Has anyone noticed that no one has been shot today? Why is it that they only time people get shot or hurt is when the Red Shirts are around.....

Really? Thais only kill themselves at night. I will come back to this post tomorrow at the same time and I'm sure we'll have a different count.
