BANGKOK, Dec 12 – Several state-run mass transport agencies will discuss a joint ticketing system to serve at least six million commuters in Bangkok daily, according to the Transport Ministry.

Chula Sukmanop, director of the Transport, Traffic Policy and Planning Office, said a central clearing house will be set up to serve the agencies which participate in the ticketing pool.

Joining the central system will be the State Railway of Thailand, Bangkok Metro Public Co, Bangkok Mass Transit System, Bangkok Mass Transit Authority, Expressway Authority of Thailand, Don Muang Tollway Plc, Bangkok Expressway Public Co, and the Marine Department – all of which signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday to launch the plan to better serve Bangkok commuters.

Mr Chula said the private sector will be invited to join a bid to operate the clearing house system.

It will take about 30 months before the ticketing pool is launched. (MCOT online news)

I thought that's the purpose the Rabbit card was supposed to serve? BTS and BRT use the rabbit card and the plan was for the MRT to as well. Now they are going to move to a different system that takes 2 1/2 years (3 yrs in real time likely) to implement?

On the way

... Several state-run mass transport agencies will discuss

... It will take about 30 months before the ticketing pool is launched.

May I wonder if they already know details which allow this 30 month planning?

Great idea and long, long overdue, BUT...

30 months???? Two and a half years???

Is this a face-saving euphemism to announce that discussions have momentarily failed and that it will not be likely in the immediate future?

What difference two weeks make

"BANGKOK, 29 November 2013 – Thailand will introduce a joint ticketing systems for passengers commuting by Bangkok’s various mass-transit systems by 2014, says the Ministry of Transport."

I guess PT need 30 months to try and 'cook the books' to hide all the evidence of what they have really been up to before anything is allowed to be 'transparent'. Once they feel confident there is no paper trail left, we may see something useful happen.,..Screw that ! Let's just have a new government that really knows what they are doing for a change, would be nice...

They didn't actually say they would - they actually agreed to discuss it....so not at all a done deal yet...A lot of careful dividing up the surplus to be sorted out first.

I believe they are worried that Wabbit and Touch and Go may be too stimulating with revenuws vanishing down a rabbit hole to Do buy.

In keeping with the humidity and soaploving locals Rub at Pub was also eschewed

The card which will work even in floods and Klong Song Saeb will have abrasive added value

The Rubba Hubba is a conical stored vaue device, coated in hygenic spermicide for multi function

RUB " N " GO

They could have just bought the type of systems working in Scandanavia years ago, sadly te tranparent payment systems did not allow for the auto tea top-up.

Howver Bangers will exceed the planet with its Monthly flexi rider accepted by Tuk-Tuks and for short time fines (ask at your nearest toll gate)
