Popular Post lovinglifeinthailand
I was food shopping in one of the big supermarkets yesterday with the gf, dressed as I normally am when out in public with clean shorts and an ironed t-shirt When I turned into the next aisle to see a western man, no idea of nationality looking like he had just been dug up. What made it worse was he was swigging from a bottle of beer and stunk of B O. I just don't understand why people would act like that. I would understand if he was a down and out living on the beach, but the guy obviously has a roof over his head as he was buying food that needed cooking. How hard is it to shower and lay off the beer for an hour whilst shopping. My point is I felt embarrassed that people would think we are from the same place, as to Thais a white guy is just a farang regardless of what country they are from. There are many respectable men out here but it's these slob's giving us a bad name. I wonder if they are like this in there home country, or is it that they come here and give up, and they know the gf wont leave them while they are paying? Looking at the Thai gf she was not happy.

Popular Post thehelmsman
I've had the same experience at Tesco with a white guy ordering food at KFC, no shirt and fat. <deleted> or at airport see guy with 70's shorts and tank top - that's trashy behavior no matter where you are.
Popular Post lovinglifeinthailand
I understand that, but people do generalize. Look at the bad rep Russians get on here, and most of them are pleasant people. I was talking to a thai guy about English football and he told me all the fans are hooligans and like to fight. Which goes to show a few bad apples can sway opinions.
Popular Post CPT
It is remarkable the number of westerners with hygeine issues that one runs across here in Thailand. Having said that, I consider T-shirts to be underwear or gym apperal so I'm not so sure you (or any of us) should complain about other westerners reflecting badly on an entire race.

Popular Post Neeranam
You must have very low self-esteem if you feel threatened by some bum. When you point a finger at someone, there are three pointing back at you. In Pattaya, the alcoholics judge the sex-addicts, the sex addicts judge the alcoholics, the football hooligan judge the junkies, the wise judge noone.

Popular Post lovinglifeinthailand
So many angry people on here. No sorry no low self- esteem. I just like people to show a little self respect, when out in public places. He had a half filled trolley so I guess did not pop out for a quick bite. come on how hard is it to have a wash and put something clean on?

My point is we all have different standards shaped by our diverse cultures, rearing, and experiences. I don't feel like the fact that you wear t-shirts in public reflects badly on me any more (or less) than the gentleman with poor hygein does but I think it is important to remember that you were not respectably attired yourself by the standards of some. Exactly One mans clean and smartly turned out another man's slob me thinks.....while venturing out side your farang ghetto, one must dress appropriately in freshly ironed trouser's, dress shirt, polished shoes and cravat before presenting oneself to the natives..... Where were you born man ? A barn ? Polo shirts are exactly that ......for playing polo, and why exactly were you shopping in this manner, don't your native servants do the shopping for you ?.....I hate to think what one wears for dinner ?.....a safari suit, with a comb in the sock and flip flops ?

Well you came here with one of the more ludicrous posts in a long time (which takes some doing) so what do you expect? Possibly this villain broke wind violently, cocking a leg to facilitate "easy release" and farted out of harmony with the piped music, near the coffee aisle too. You should have followed him all day and let us know of any other misdemeanours he may have perpetrated while shopping.... Keep us posted please.... Popular Post seajae
mate, I will have to agree with you on this, there is no need to be sucking an a bottle of piss in a supermarket, dress codes/hygeine are each persons choice, they want to smell bad, be dirty and wear crap when they do their shopping its their choice. Yes it might offend people but if they dont give a shit it just goes to show that they dont even respect themsleves so why should we, its what each person does that reflects on them as individuals, just learn to ignore them and keep your own standards.

You opine that when shopping in a supermarket alcohol isn't needed, as if you are so high and mighty in your clean shorts and ironed T-shirt, but what is he was an alcoholic? Didn't think about that did you! Well, let me explain. An alcoholic is unable to undertake normal activities without alcohol, so maybe he was drinking beer precisely because he did need it...for medical reasons. I think what you are is a bigot and an alcoholicist.
