Good Morning Guys/Girls,

Just wondered if anybody has any information of what I would need to teach in an International School or a better paid job?

I am currently working in Prachuap and earning 30, 000 baht a month.

I have achieved a degree in BA Educational Studies and Health, the 140 hour TEFL certificate and a load of teaching experience.

Although I have enough money to survive, I would like to progress next year.

I have researched and it looks like I would need a PGCE or BED, but am hoping you could advice me on my options!

Many thanks,

I am not sure what your degree is and without knowing what country you are from it is hard to give precise advice.

First of all, you are not qualified to teach in an international school. You must first decide what subject that you think you are qualified for, and then what age group. If you have a degree in that subject matter, then you can get your teacher's license in a year or 2. Math and Science teachers have the best luck, then humanities, then English (not EFL) finally music, art, PE are rare but if you have talent, then you might have luck.

Most International schools do not accept any teaching experience if it is not from your home country or other international schools. EFL experience is almost worthless to them unless you can spin it.

My suggestion for immediate is to get into a bilingual or EP program and start teaching subjects you are interested in and have studied enough to be effective. Then either get another degree in that subject or at least a minor (concentration), and then get licensed which is different in all countries.

Thank you for both very much for your information.

Zeichen my degree is Educational Studies and Health, which i completed in Scarborough England. Does that mean I would not be able to teach in an international school, even upon completion of the PGCE?

I have (in England) taught numerous junior sports teams, although that does not give me the required experience to teach P.E, maybe that could be an avenue I could concentrate on? Maybe even gain a minor concentration? I have been advised that although I maybe not qualified for a teaching position, I may find myself working in an international school as an assistant.

I would like to earn enough money to save for my future of course, maybe the business owner route is the only option (baring that you have said) I have.

Many Many Thanks.
